NEW YORK -- Forget sympathy pains -- nearly 40 percent of French men said they want to go through the real thing.
According to a poll published in the current issue of Children's Magazine, 38 percent of the 500 French fathers questioned said they wish they could be pregnant and go through labor instead of their wives.
And the poll finds many women would be OK with that. An even greater percentage of them said they would be up for the switch.
The same survey said 71 percent of the French men surveyed said they're prepared to take a year-long sabbatical or put in a request to work part-time to be more of a hands-on dad.
The poll was conducted by the marketing company Ipsos.

#14:
That is quite true. The really interesting thing is that a French man probably COULD get pregnant.

I'm trying to figure out the reason for this. There are two possible likely reasons.
French men love their wives unconditionally and would do anything for them, they would accept without fear the opportunity to bear the pain for their wives, showing how tough they are (because women are twice as tough as men having to endure such things as pregnancy and childbirth) and how much they care about their wives not wanting them to suffer and endure the pain. Which I think would be a genuine display of love and affection for their wives.
Or, French men are a bunch of girly men. And they want to be girls.
Seeing as how traditional marriage doesn't mean that much in Europe anymore, its probably reason #2.

And a similar poll, taken among Parisian women, revealed that 80% of the respondents wished that there were more real men in France.

It all boils down to not wanting to have to get up and go to work in the morning. They are such lazy bastards! The 35-hour workweek just isn't good enough. They will want a 32-hour week and than a 28-hour week and on and on. Between the paid holidays, vacations, shortened work-weeks and now MATERNITY time, it's a wonder these French slugs even remember what their jobs are!

"71 percent of the French men surveyed said they're prepared to take a year-long sabbatical or put in a request to work part-time to be more of a hands-on dad..." They had to take a poll to confirm that French men would like to work less?
