Per Fox News...
Yes. Well stated.
Natalee bears no blame for what happened to her. Nor do her parents.
Blame? Perhaps not. Responsibility? Certainly. The vast majority of young people thankfully never end up raped and murdered. This is not just due to fate. Sound decisions usually make for good fortune.
There's been such a tight news hold on this case from the get go, I'm not surprised such stories break out from time to time. Makes me wonder what's going on down there behind the scenes.
Good point.
These two extremes both are referenced in Proverbs 22:
(verse 3): A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge,
but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
(verse 13): The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside!"
or, "I will be murdered in the streets!"
In other words, being unaware of danger is bad, but so is being so paranoid about dangers to you that you use it as an excuse to do nothing.
Bummer. The poor thing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Nothing to do with feeling invincible.
Things have progressed somewhat in this case. The way it looks those 2 security guards will be set free shortly unless something comes out that they are tied in with the 3 upper society polished freaks.
See post 708...sorry I didn't make it more clear.
Oh, sure, and the report mentioned that, but there was a military person on the show, that said that they counsel the troops when they are returning to the US...
They counsel them on possible marital problems, job problems, emotional problems, etc.,, he said that when talking to the families and friends of a lot of these men/women, they said that these people in some cases seemed to take chances that they might not have before Iraq...
Like drinking more when knowing they are going to drive, driving faster than before...
I think he was saying it could be due to a lost things, but there ARE, percentage wise, a lot more that have died after returning from overseas fighting, than being discharged from a stint here in the states..
I am not saying I know anything, I am repeating what I remember about the report on Fox.
I think it's the Aruba version of the Palm Beach William Kennedy Smith scenario.
Do you really wear a helmet when you ride your bike? :)
You, my friend, have a long way to go before you are dispensing advice to other parents.
But to assume everyone you meet has your best intentions is a dumb and deadly way to go through life...
None can predict what their child will or won't do.
We can only pray pray and pray some more.
Almost 90 years ago, Raoul Lufbery, an American pilot in France said "There is no 'after the war' for a fighter pilot'". He didn't make it through the war. I think there has always been a lot of that sort of problem for combat veterans.
I truly hope you two aren't taking the word "invincible" as a pejorative. I think that most teenagers believe they are "invincible" which is normal...
I am not trying to call our troops responsibility or common sense into question...
It pleases me somewhat that they are keeping a lid on what info they have, or at least from the talking head media. IMHO, in some instances the media does an injustice to our justice system.
A lot of what the media was reporting in the Kobe and Peterson cases turned out not to be true.
But of course he did! lol
El is the only one I've ever heard sing it.
I'm a product of the 1950's (my teen years.)
Even tho we have corrupt lawyers in this country, I am glad we have what is left of our judicial system. I bet those parents of the kids that were on that trip are the happiest people on earth right now to get them home !
How horrible it must be to be the parents of the missing girl and have to deal with that Govt.
Roger that.
