Per Fox News...
i have two little boys, and this is just one of those stories that make you sit and stare at the t.v. just muttering under your breath disgustedly "g*ddammit, what the hell is wrong with people..."
Natalee Holloway Update: 4:06 PM EST
from Riehl World View
Government officials in Aruba are on the radio condemming Fox News for their reporting and requesting all journalists to cooperate with authorities and not report rumors. The Justice Minister is denying having told any American reporter that Natalee Holloway is dead.
They also insist that they do not know of a body being recovered at this time.
My question is how would you teach your girl to trust who? I mean weren't two of these guys hotel security types? I am female and have travelled abroad alone. It is frightening to me to think that this young lady would get into a car with total strangers. I don't think any young, smart, female under normal circumstances would do that? These guys somehow won her trust, she had contact with them prior to the night she dissappeared. It appears she was with her friends at the time and they must not have thought anything odd about her leaving with these 3 guys.
I had a trip to Belizean Rainforest one yr. I was scared sh***less when I first got off the plane. None of what I expected was present and when I finally connected with the driver the vehicle wasn't typical quality tourist fare. It was beatup and of questionable nature. Things that changed my mind to go ahead and get in, he insisted I ride in the front seat, the front door on my side didn't lock, and there laying on the front seat were binoculars and a bird guide. If the situation would've been any different I would have been on the first plane home. (note: i don't take the usual kind of trips, mine tend to be well off the beaten path)
Widespread interest in disappeared woman cases considerably predates 24 hour cable news.
"If it's her blood.....
this was no accidental
death..."
Agreed, that why I think it probably is her blood...
Nah, just mention the "gulag" at Gitmo.
You're going down punk, the Americans will send you to the gulag. /extreme sarcasm
I agree with your lesson from this story. I just got my last kid out of high school, and you Freepers should know that these Spring Break and Grad Week vacation scams are very big business and dangerous.
First month of senior year the schools ( even the Catholic ones) allow these creeps to push these "destination" events on the kids, taking deposits... most cost well over a grand. I looked at the colorful brochures, then researched online to see what they truly were... it's actually a giant Girls Gone Wild party with leering locals and binge drinking.
Do not let your kids attend these things. They exist at Mexico and Caribbean resorts, even Hawaii, and the ones in the third world are especially lawless. If you want your 17 year girl engaged in group sex, lesbian kissing displays, pot and alcohol binging with complete strangers and leering local criminals, by all means send them along. I passed.
I agree Sally, it's a beautiful place. Too may people think that all Caribbean islands are the same... they're not. Leave the all-inclusive resorts or tourist areas in Jamaica and you're taking you're asking for trouble. Aruba isn't like that.
I hope this doesn't sound too bad, but I expect there will be some pretty good rates on travel to Aruba due to all of this. If the price is right Ill more than likely make a trip down there.

I don't know the language, but given the third story I don't think they like Bill O'Reilly calling Aruba a drug center.
I went on a senior trip to the beach with a bunch of my classmates, and I went out to eat and sun-tanned on the beach. My classmates did the drinking and stuff. Maybe her parents thought she was smart enough to not drink and flirt with strangers.
Yes, but if you swim in shark-infested waters don't be surprised if you end up being the dinner of a shark.

In a couple of weeks, it won't sound too bad..... today probably sounds pretty bad... ;-)
A voice of reason....
I heard earlier in reports that there was some hip/hop artists and concerts while they were attending this five day excursion and I immediately thought that that is exactly what this whole trip was....
A girls gone wild episode with Aruba as its next port of call.
Of course; she was just asking to get murdered...
She might have been a virgin. In which case a little blood in the back seat would be normal.
BTW....I suppose their mother was horrible and evil too...and your mother ...and all your sisters...and any dtrs you might have .......
Gee maybe the guy(s) who killed her?? Every young person does something stupid at some time (with the exception of YOU?) There are predators out there just waiting/stalking for a stupid event. Sometimes they get "lucky" - sometimes they don't.

HUH???????????????????????????????????????????????????
This is something I've heard for years, even back in the 80's. I think O'Reilly might be correct about this.
