Sri Lankan police have used teargas and water cannons to try to disperse Buddhist monks blockading the residence of President Chandrika Kumaratunga.
The monks are protesting against a proposed deal with Tamil Tiger rebels over some $2bn of tsunami relief aid.

these monks are a disgrace to Buddhism .
their positions go against every Buddhist principle.
Why on earth do their Sangha leaders let them go about these activities , and why do their lay people tolerate
such a travesty?
They should relinquish their status as monks and become
ordinary non ordained lay people again if they want to make political statements.
