The party can get behind a pro-lifer and I think it comes down to that.

Exactly. The life issue is the defining issue for many of us. I'll get up early on a Saturday morning in the fall to go door-to-door for a candidate who may save babies' lives.

It's my deal-breaker. I went door-to-door in downtown Lansing, a bastion of liberalism, stumping for President Bush. I can't really see myself doing that for a pro-abortion GOPer. I'd campaign extra hard against the opposition, and when it comes down to the vote, I would end up casting a ballot for the lesser of two evils. I wouldn't expend my energy on a pro-abortion candidate, however. Just wouldn't, couldn't do it.
