Yes, I hear they're using interest only mortgages a lot more often in recent months.
Sorry...couldn't resist.
What size gun would one need to bring down a coyote? Would a 22-mag be sufficient?

Just don't buy it from Acme, lol.
A lot of people like the .25'06 because of the distance usually involved. Although if they're getting this brazen, my trusty Ruger M-77 in .308 should do the trick.
Eskimos regularly kill polar bears with a .22.
My guess is a strong man with a shovel could probably do one in - maybe even with his bare hands. Carl Akley - an old time big game hunter - strangled a leopard with his bare hands.
A .22 mag will suffice out to @ 50 yards with correct bullet placement. Beyond that range any .22 center fire [.222, .223, 22-250,] or .243 / 6mm works well. Anything above 25-06 is a bit messy. If you intend to keep the pelts, use dental floss and a surgical needle to sew the bullet holes before stretching / tanning.
A .22 mag will work. Go with the 40-grain pill, avoid the little 30-gr jobs. My vintage Marlin will put the CCI Hi-Vel 40-gr hollowpoints into a 1" square at 85 yds.
Of course a .223 is better, and anything bigger than that just gets better. But the 22 mag will work at reasonable ranges.
All depends on your range. I shot one out my bedroom window at 45yds. with a .22LR.
.22 magnum? I suppose. I havent seen one of those in a long time. It was an over/under .22 magnum/.410 shotgun.
In that case, Id probably choose some larger shot for the .410 and hit him with both of them.
Personally, for generic stuff I prefer my Remington 870/Winchester 94 combination. Theyre pretty much indestructible and dependable, IMO. (Oh - and best part - were cheap/free.)
Skip the 22. Grab your compound bow with a 90gr muzzy broadhead and bring 'em in close.
Within that round's effective range, yes. Just make sure you hit 'em good and solid. Some of the newer .22WMR loads are supposed to be really good (CCI's "TNT" ammo seems appropriate, since we're talking about coyotes.)
Some people have had good luck with the .17HMR, too - that little bullet really makes a mess. Personally, I've never dropped one with less than a Hornet.
Remington Premier V-Max would certainly do the trick...remember to gut-shoot it so it goes off and dies on someone else's property.
Either that or shoot, shovel, and shutup.
Coyotes here in our urban subdivision have killed our two cats, and countless other pets around here.
Perhaps if they ate the mayor's kids, something would happen about this problem.
if you're interested in keep the fur, a sub caliber is better, i.e. 17, 15 and even 14.
These are really starting to get popular.
With well placed shots, a .22 rimfire magnum should suffice. I use a .222 Rem for coyotes but have killed them with .22 long rifles in the past.
