Well, then, you just be careful and not read the version pushed by that nutcase a few years ago, who claimed not only a written language in sub-Saharan Africa, but a "University" in Timbuktu, complete with a library to rival Alexandria...

Both of which disappeared without the slightest trace or evidence. All based on a "speculative" book by a nutcase Frenchman. I have it, and I wish I could remember the title. A book right up there with The Hollow Earth.

Avoid that one.
