SAN NICOLAS, Aruba - Authorities detained two men Sunday in connection with the disappearance of an Alabama teenager, who went missing nearly a week ago in Aruba while on a high school trip, the attorney general said. ADVERTISEMENT
Caren Janssen called the men "suspects" in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 18, but declined to provide further details. The men were not among the three described earlier by police as "persons of interest."
Police officers and three FBI agents, who are playing a supportive role in the investigation, took the two men into custody at two different houses in the southeastern town of San Nicolas, according to an AP photographer at the scene.
Police knocked on the door of one house, put the suspect on the floor and handcuffed him. Officers later detained a second man. They both were led to an unmarked police car and taken away.
Neighbors described the men as security guards who worked at a hotel closed down for renovation near where the 18-year-old blonde was staying at the Holiday Inn. Police and FBI agents searched the hotel Saturday.

Huh, that's interesting.
Aruba has to be terrified about what this young woman's disappearance will do to their tourist industry. So where is she? Tied up, beaten, raped, and doped to the eyeballs in some crackhouse? Or all of the above, but taken away on some boat? Dead and buried? This is horrible. Her family thought she'd be safe with more than one hundred classmates, now these two 'suspects' turn out to be security guards at the hotel. If they're guilty of kidnapping her, etc., she didn't stand a chance.
As to why people persist in going to third-world armpits...I simply cannot understand it.

Aruba is not supposed to be like that though. It's a very low crime place, actually part of Holland. Or something like that, but who knows?

Welcome to FR, hope you find your stay enjoyable, no matter how long it lasts.
My understanding is that Aruba is a very, very low crime place. So I imagine any crime would get a big response. Although I'm not sure what law pertains to people who work on ships at sea, maybe we should ponder the fate of the fat, black, corn rowed tourist staying in a hotel on Aruba. I'm sure such a person exists, despite your narrow vision.
Oh, I agree, there would be no media coverage at all, even if she were smeared with dog feces...........

A nearby hotel. Not the one where she was staying.
I honest to God hope I'm wrong, but it's rare that stories like this have a happy ending.
"White girl"
Yes, we need a program to manage sympathy and concern quotas so that kidnapped white girls aren't given more attention than they deserve. Thanks for pointing this out to those of us who simply were concerned for this girl. Race is very important in cases like this.

Hey, 4 is gone!
I think it was Jimmah. It was the only way he could atone for "lusting in his heart" for blonde highschool girls.
Hmmm..why toss him overboard so fast? I was hoping for more drivel.
