"The men were not among the three described earlier by police as "persons of interest."
Huh, that's interesting.
Aruba has to be terrified about what this young woman's disappearance will do to their tourist industry. So where is she? Tied up, beaten, raped, and doped to the eyeballs in some crackhouse? Or all of the above, but taken away on some boat? Dead and buried? This is horrible. Her family thought she'd be safe with more than one hundred classmates, now these two 'suspects' turn out to be security guards at the hotel. If they're guilty of kidnapping her, etc., she didn't stand a chance.
I honest to God hope I'm wrong, but it's rare that stories like this have a happy ending.
Sadly, that would be a good place for dirty work.
I am hearing on other forums that divers are working near the California lighthouse. Supposedly an area not common for tour diving. Not sure of the accuracy. One poster stated that Fox was reporting as well.
Years ago, while I was vacationing in Martinique, I met a family from Long Island who were staying in the same hotel. They had two teenage daughters, about 15-17 years old. One day they girls disappeared and were gone for over 24 hours. They returned on their own. It turns out that a local man, who seemed to spend all of his time hanging around the pool at this resort hotel, had befriended the girls and offered them drugs. This guy had offered to smoke marijuana with me the first day that I arrived. The girls took the drugs of their own volition. I spoke with the girls after the incident and they said that the drugs made them hallucinate and eventually pass out. They said that they did not believe they were sexually assaulted when passed out. But, IMHO, the girls wore bikinis when this took place so it would have been easy for them to be assaulted without much of a struggle ensuing. Nothing was done to the man but he did not come back to the hotel after the incident. The girls parents were livid about the incident but could not get anything done to the guy.
It seems that characters like this hang around resort areas looking for victims. It may be with sexually violent intent or it may be just to find someone to mooch off of or it may be to sell drugs.
Teen age girls out in the third world think nothing of going off with exotic strangers in search of fun and 'whatever'. After all, who would harm an American tourist out for fun?
The only thing that reins in some predators is the fact that these countries survive on tourism--and the natives learn that bad publicity is bad for the economy, so they usually put pressure on the bad guys to keep predation to theft and robbery. Even so, many will point out the guilty ones because they always know who dun' it.
Two reasons there is an all-out search for Natalee:
1) Her family is wealthy;
2) She is an attractive white woman
Had Natalee been blaek or hispanic, we probably wouldn't be hearing about it in the news.
Just my .02
FOX News just reports charges against the 2 security guards.
Would someone enlighten me as to how parents could allow their children to go on high school vacation to Aruba? Sure they were supposed to be chaperoned. But that didn't work. Wake up folks there are evil predators out there and their victims could be your children.
