The TSA reminds travelers that is has the authority to impose civil penalties up to $10,000 per violation. And we need to remind TSA and the airlines that we have the authority to never buy a plane ticket again.
I haven't flown since 9/11 and it has nothing to do with terrorists, and everything to do with not wanting my wife or four year old daughter grope searched by TSA lesbians.

This can only happen, because people like you and me have allowed it to happen.
STOP!

Sounds like the TSA needs a complete overhaul, from the top, down. Remember the "band"? Didn't that turn out to be "nothing"? I stand corrected on that one. I won't fly again unless it's of the uttmost emergency.

Haven't flown for 873 days. Only flew once since 2001-9-11 on business, because I had too.
I will never fly again until the minimum-IQ TSA gestapo are history.
The biggest threat to commercial air traffic is shoulder-fired missiles, ala TWA Flight 800, and all the TSA morons in the world rooting through your underwear won't protect your flight from them.

The TSA is not looking for real terrorist as it would not be PC for them to look at Arabs/Islamic radicals so they harass non terrorist.

So far, all you have is an unsubstantiated allegation.

Having Admiral Loy as head of TSA was one of the biggests mistakes this administration has made. The tone he set with TSA and the Air Marshalls allowed his arrogance to seep to the lowest levels.

It was a 5 1/2 inch bread knife with a rounded tip and a serrated edge. That's not a knife, mate.
Now this is a knife....

Where did the knives come from?
Did she buy them in California?
Or did she 'take' them with her....?
The whole thing seems asinine to me...
..I don't care if it was 37 kids.....buy a box of plastic knives for crying out loud!!.
I am not sympathetic to her.
Much ado about nothing.

Fines issued for knives and other sharp objects range from $250 to $1,500. Fines issued for firearms discovered in carry-on luggage range from $1,500 to $7,500. It doesn't sound as though this was a sharp item.
That Israeli security guy in LA a while back that shot that terrorist has it about right. Authorities in the US don't know much about security. They only know how to annoy people.

My first instinct was to bash the TSA, but then I examined the report more closely. It consists mostly of complaints from the woman with little or no corroboration from any other source. And in particular, something that she said just doesn't taste right:
"This is not the way my country should be treating me," she said. "My concern is that if that's the way they're treating American citizens I would hate to think how they're treating other people. It's crazy."
Now what did she mean by that? Was she referring to the alleged prisoner "abuse" at Gitmo or Abu Ghraib? Or was she taking a jab at US foreign policy in general?
Sounds like the lady has an agenda to me.
To: ActionNewsBill
During the stay she made sandwiches for the kids and was careful to pack the knives she used to prepare those sandwiches in her checked luggage. She says she even alerted security screeners that the knives were in her checked bags and they told her that was OK.
If this is true, the TSA is guilty of entrapment, amoung other things, a judge could throw out these charges just on this evidence alone.
To: ActionNewsBill
It never is right when it hits you.
So long as it always falls on the other guy, it is ok.
Crap such as this is why I no longer fly [the "screening balony].
Meanwhile the real terorists waltz right on past.
But in real life, my bet is that she is one of these individuals that when a perorter sticks a microphone in front of a camera in her face that would say, "I don't mind so long as it makes me secure." Well, she has a bellyfull of security now.

Why does she have a Washington driver's license? Looks like she just moved to Iowa. Some of her comments make me think she is a liberal.
That said, if she is not lying about this, it is sad this happened to her.
On the other hand, she brought a knife. What did she expect, a pat on the back?
