Beaman apologized and told them it was a mistake. I'm sure Achmed will try that one too.

She says screeners refused to give her paperwork or documentation of her violation, documentation of the pending fine, or a copy of the photograph of the knife. "They said 'no' and they said it's a national security issue. And I said what about my constitutional rights? And they said 'not at this point ... you don't have any'."
Unbelieveable.

Cecilia Beaman is a 57-year-old grandmother, a principal at Pacific Middle School in Des Moines, and as of Sunday is also a suspected terrorist. So guys beheading people, killing children and blowing up buildings are insurgents, but a 57 year old white grandmother is a terrorist? Un-freaking-believable!

And meanwhile, the TSA won't look at people whose physical appearance, social background, religious beliefs and points of origin match those of actual terrorists.

I'm sure Achmed will try that one too. Achmed is not going to try and take over a plane with a butter knife, while towing around 37 kids.

My concern is that if that's the way they're treating American citizens I would hate to think how they're treating other people.Don't worry, they get a pass.

Brain-dead zero-tolerance policies suck no matter where they're applied.

"You've committed a felony," Beaman says a security screener announced. "And you're considered a terrorist."
[snip]
And I said what about my constitutional rights? And they said 'not at this point ... you don't have any'." I'm not a fan of TSA, they strike me as bullies. Now, having said that, I will also say that this woman's account seems overly dramatic and over-the-top. She's a member of a teachers' union, I imagine. I'm not eager to side with her either. Democrats lie.

And meanwhile, the TSA won't look at people whose physical appearance, social background, religious beliefs and points of origin match those of actual terrorists. So it goes. Whatever's coming 'round the bend, We The People deserve it.

I can understand how a mistake like this can happen but a little prior planning would have prevented it. Before I travel I empty my bags all the way and inspect them for anything that I might not know is in them and then pack them. But this general over all zero tolerance policy will get some innocent people just like it does in our schools.

This is an excellent thread and shows why it will be more than easy for us to be attacked again. While stoooopid Govt. workers waste unbelievable time on individuals that couldn't fit the terrorist profile if they wanted the real bad guys get a pass. Typical govt. inspired workers. Dumb some, most and all of the time.

I'm not eager to side with her either. Democrats lie. You're jumping to conclusions here by assuming she's a Dem and assuming she's lying.
After seeing some of the other accounts of the TSA in action, I'm inclined to believe her story.

apparently the only consistent policy within the TSA is they've forgotten whom they work for.....as have, apparently, their congressional masters.

At least not unless Achmed's wired all 37 kids with bombs. :-P Well, in that case, TSA would be doing their jobs instead of harassing American citizens who happen to have a harmless butter knife in their possession.

Well, I'm glad they nabbed this potential terrorist.
This proves that the TSA screeners are stopping people in a very politically correct manner,
and that is, in the end, far more important than actually stopping terrorists, isn't?
