The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working.

Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens.

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida.

Something popped out at me when I read this article. The number of cities matched the number listed long ago at the unmentionable site- where supposedly some 35 nukes were in clusters of 5-7, etc.

Does anyone still have that jihadi map of the "shattered" US? The one with the sword through the center of the country and various cities carved out? Might be worthwile to take a look at it again...

Thank you Cindy for making that link clickable. Couldn't help but wonder how underfunded law enforcement departments will function in the event of catastrophe (terrorist or otherwise) in the face of chaos and violence should there be other terrorist attacks here (of whatever type).

On the other hand, there is a culture of violence in some inner city areas that would quickly overwhelm suburban-type folk living is fairly close proximity. I am talking primarily about young men of color involved in gang warfare and toting guns....when they evacuate toward the suburban areas, they will be bringing their AK's with them....

It has just been on the news here that police are evacuating the whole of the city center of Birmingham, UK about 30,000 people due to a credible terror threat to city. Just on Sky and Fox. This is about 70 miles from me.

Ok, well, according to Fox News, they have had a series now of controlled explosions. Here's what this may mean in a nutshell.


OPINION:

1. Suspicious packages were blown up by law enforcement officials.

OR

2. Tips to specific packages were gleaned and then law enforcement blew them up.

OR

3. Some packages have been blown up and law enforcement needs to access the situation now.

Islamic reformist hosts website used by group to claim responsibility

I have maintained for quite some time that there is no separation within the Islamic community worldwide between "moderates" and "radicals." One of the most telling indications that Muslim condemnations of this or that terrorist act may not be sincere is that mosque leaders in Western countries have made no concerted effort to bar from their premises those who are sympathetic to or even active in the violent jihad. This is another example: al-Fagih has been known as a "reformist," but now he turns out to be hosting this jihad site and may have other terrorist ties. "British Muslims denounce strike as London man linked to attack: Islamic reformist hosts website used by group to claim responsibility," from the Ottawa Citizen, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

LONDON - As British Muslim leaders intensified their condemnations of the terror strikes against the city, a London Islamic reformist was identified yesterday as the operator of the website al-Qaeda sympathizers used to claim responsibility for the carnage.
The Evening Standard newspaper says London-based Saudi dissident Saad Al-Fagih, an Iraqi-born doctor and founder of the Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia, runs the Al-Qal'ah Internet site used by a group calling itself the Secret Organization of al-Qaeda in Europe to claim responsibility for Thursday's attacks.

Authorities have yet to verify the claim by the previously unknown group and Mr. Al-Fagih, 48, has denied involvement.

But the newspaper said Mr. Al-Fagih has previously been linked to terrorism by U.S. officials.

In December, his assets, including his comfortable suburban home, were frozen by the Bank of England after U.S. Treasury officials accused his website of being routinely used to transmit clandestine messages to groups affiliated with al-Qaeda and to potential new terror recruits, the newspaper said.
