The Threat Matrix
The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. |

Expert: Al-Qaida Has Presence In South Florida Full Story
|
MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working. Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens. The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida. Nah, this is a new group...probably and offshoot from Spain.
The ricin cell was rolled up last year.

Awww, that was soooo sweet to hear. Thank you! Glad to be back - missed TM (withdrawal and catch up - both bad!)

Their strategy IS brilliant. Any motivated individual w/ no fear of death will be successful employing it. The trick is to pre-empt it and grant their wish of martyrdom prematurely.

Me too, Davey. Me too.
On the nukes, IF they have nukes, they will wait to use them to get the most bang for the buck. It's like having only one bullet. You don't waste it.
IMO, it's not yet time for them to use them. The terrorist scum are patient. They have waited YEARS between attacks.
NEVER underestimate your enemy.

Yes, thank goodness for TM.
It is so easy to get into altercations on other boards, that I will tell you. I am not even talking about DU, unfortunately. There are many regular folks who buy how the general media and certain Congressional members portray the war on terror and in Iraq. Oh, and they hate GWB, too. So everything they write and interpret is erroneously colored through these lenses. It is such a shame.
I never thought of these boards as political boards until fairly recently, too. The hate is heavy in the air now. The media and ted kennedy and others do what they can to fan the flames of hatred. They made it a war against GWB, Halliburton and Cheney rather than against islamic killers who wish to kill us.

Just musing.
Today I caught part of someone's remark on FOX. He said something about how unusual it was for this to happen with no chatter. (Of course, whether or not there was chatter is something to be learned later.)
BUT, if there was no chatter and London was caught completely off guard, what are the chances of having an terrorist operative inside the British Government/Scotland Yard/SIS?

Anyone have a guage on the chatter level, then and now?

You know, I think that a nuke attack -- if they can ever pull it off -- will be/is reserved for our country.

That is the long and short of it.
Now how would one stop someone like this?

It's clearly at least a short term victory to prove that they still have the power to pull something off like this under increased scrutiny. How prepared can we be for suicide bombers and the like other than visually. Next month we'll have an 8/11 which totals the infamous number 19. Not that we're thinking they are a^@( retentive numerically.

Agreed. To be used against the military/industrial complex.
The only other high value target I could think of would be shutting down the ME oil flow.

Stopping someone like that isn't the trick. The trick is to stop ONLY the one's like that.

Anyone have a guage on the chatter level, then and now? Classified - No clue
Open - I am not aware of any traffic posted in excess or out of what had become 'ordinary'. Now, post attack chatter is probably huge.

Same here, my latest discovery is how many MSM are on the boards.
