7-Year-Old Suspected In Beating Death Of Baby Sister

TAMPA, Fla. -- In an attack that's rattled even veteran detectives, police in Florida said a 7-year-old boy has confessed to beating his baby sister to death.

Investigators said the boy was jealous of the attention the infant was getting and upset by her crying. They said the boy beat the baby with his fists, feet and a two-by-four.

The attack occurred in Tampa, while the boy was visiting his father.

Police said the father and his girlfriend were outside with neighbors when the boy came out and told them the baby was "bleeding." They said the seven-month-old had a bloody nose, and wasn't breathing. The parents rushed the baby to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A spokesman said detectives noted they'd never seen someone so young "show so much violence and so little remorse."

"I think you need to take a breath"

Well, I happen to be biased. A similar situation happening to ones own family changes a person.

Most children need to form a loving attachment to another person, preferably a parent, by the time they are 5 years old, otherwise their chances of becoming a sociopath increase by 50%. If they aren't bonded by 7, it goes up even more. If they aren't bonded by 9, it is already too late.

I know exactly what you are talking about. It's like the part of them that learns how to truly love and trust is starved to death or destroyed. They're vacant inside.

"May God have more Grace toward you, than you have for your fellow man."

This kid is not my "fellow man". He is a 7-year-old monster who gave up his humanity when he MURDERED HIS INFANT SISTER and showed no remorse after the fact. The kid is not human. He is an animal. I pity his family, not him.

Not to mention a little bit of Sunday schooling. At age 7 a kid knows right from wrong, IF they are taught it. But if all they see is tv and "parents" carrying on like partying teenagers themselves they only learn from what they see around them.

Had I found the article first, I would have posted it because until we responsible adults demand changes in society they aren't going to happen.

Are people demanding changes as the result of pouring over the grisly details on FR? Also, what kind of changes do you have in mind?

It's an ugly heartbreaking story but turning your eyes away will not bring the child back to life.

Gawking at corpse won't bring the child back to life, either.

Quit whining, take your damn blinders off and see reality as it is. I know the truth is too much to bear for too many but shunning it doesn't make it go away.

I am surprised by the anger I am seeing in response to my simple question. What gives with that? Sounds a little defensive.

The reality is that these kinds of cases are actually quite rare in the grand scheme of things. Drawing attention to every single one makes them appear to be commonplace. Before you know it, every parent is a suspect. That, along with the voyeurism, bothers me.

First of all, chill

Hmm, I wasn't aware I was hot. I answered your question & posed one of my own...how is that out of line?

I don't think one can make the arguement that child abuse/death stories are more frequent than they were, say, five years ago. It's just that they are appearing more on FR.

Then, you must mean that the same story is posted multiple times if these disgusting acts are not, as you say, happening more frequently.

FR was primarily a political site and now it is more than that?

Of course it is, as is evident by the numerous categories on the home page.

There's not a lot we can do in politics either but the articles are posted all the time. Besides it'll make some parents aware for the future.

Lord have mercy -- Florida -- AGAIN! A seven year old! This is beyond comprehension. If this "child" can kill at seven, I don't think any amount of rehabilitation will help him. Are these crack kids, fetal alcohol syndrome kids or what in the world is going on????

And, a severe lack of parenting. I couldn't agree more.

From Drudge:
The State Attorney's Office is deciding whether to file charges against the boy in an attack that rattled even veteran homicide detectives.

snip

The unidentified boy was not taken into custody and is living with his mother while prosecutors make their decision on whether to charge him.

Tell me what this is about. Why isn't this boy in custody undergoing a psychiatric observation? Living with Mom & then Dad has NOT worked up to this point. You have to find out what you are working with here.

My bad, I misread it. Which changes everything, the boy could have been around the infant more frequently.

"Then would you be willing to be the executioner of such children?"
- No. But if there are people willing to pull the plug on sick innocent people (like Terri Schiavo) or perform partial birth abortions (holding the babies shoulders in the woman’s vagina while sucking out its brains into a plastic cup), then somehow I don't think there would be a problem finding someone who would.

"And how would you do it?"
- Whatever is the preferred method according to state law.

"What is the age limit?"
- Why does there have to be one?

"And lastly, what is your definition of a child?"
- The same as our governments, anyone less than 18 years of age.

How do you not hear a seven year old beating a seven month old to death? Children are not capable of controlling there emotions at this stage.

Parents do not want to parent anymore. Plain and simple. I have a three year old who is never out of ear shot, is that incovenient sometimes? Sure, but it was the responsibility I took on when I became a parent.

It's like these idiots whose 2 year olds drown, I only left them for a minute, yeah right, in one minute the kid drowned. The stupid sixties generation (do what feels good, look out for yourself, the ends justifies the means, blah, friggin, blah, friggin, blah) who are the parents of this generation of parents created this atmosphere and we are all paying the price.
