In a family statement released today, Felt's grandson, Nick Jones, said, "The family believes my grandfather, Mark Felt Sr., is a great American hero who went well above and beyond the call of duty at much risk to himself to save his country from a horrible injustice." The statement added, "We all sincerely hope the country will see him this way as well."

I heard this on the radio today and the end came out almost as a plea.

The family knows on one level many Americans will not see him as a hero at all.

And the Left ruined Linda Tripp's life for basically doing the same thing Deep Throat did.

You're barking up the wrong tree. I was a dimocrap at the time and hated her too.

Third, despite Felt's family's contentions, the man is no hero. He did what he did out of spite and envy. If he'd been a hero, he wouldn't have hid behind a couple of hacks for 30+ years.

And that is exactly how I view Woodstien and Burnward! Hacks, lowly, inefficient hacks who happened to be at a right place at a right time. Then they whored themselves, with very little talent of their own, to keep this 'deep throat' BS alive for thirty years. And earned big bucks along the way?

Other than reporting on what 'deep throat' said, what else have these pathetic creatures accomplished in their lives???????????

As are your instincts keen, Treader. Bringing up the Hillary numerous "filegates". And yes, she was involved, as a junior lawyer of sorts in the Watergate case. I hadn't yet arrived at thinking about her involvement, directly in this. I had thought only in terms of the new book (about her) released "pre-soiling before election cycle" recently, and its relationship to this "deep throat" curio news event.

She was a lawyer involved with Watergate. I'd wager she knows the who(s) of "deep throat". Quite well. Or has worked out an agreement to suppress that data in light of newer liaisons which could be accrued should she support the current DT "celebrity" of the month.

This whole "Deep Throat" speculation is nothing more than a MSM ploy to tell the General Public that 1) They can keep a secret 2) They have true internal sources. The only problem they have is just because they found 1 real source in the 70s doesn't constitute the Janitor being just as reliable today.

He was too much of a coward to do that. Their family member was not only a rat...he was a coward to boot. Yeah...they must be real proud of those two qualities running through their veins.

So what's the major difference between the Nixon-Felt story and the Clinton-Tripp story? Felt had a duty to do something and didn't. Tripp had no duty to act but did.

And Tripp is vilified and Felt with be a hero.

LOL

I'm sure we ALL thought Hal Holbrook was Deep Throat at one time or another.

As an aside, I used to get Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone mixed up. They were both played by Fess Parker, you know.

NOW, HAND OVER THE MONEY TO MY FAMILY FOR OUR STORY.

That's how they came off, all right. Before I had seen this thread I was telling my husband about the story (since he was at work today and away from tv/radio) and I described the family as grinning and acting inappropriately happy over this.

Always good to have impressions confirmed.

This ought to be good for 6-9 months of nonstop picking at Nixon's corpse by the self-important MSM. They have been dying to bring back the sixties. What better for moving the spotlight away from their plethora of recent scandals than to relive the "glory days" and bash old Nixon again.

That old sixties saw "credibility gap" is so much more apropos the modern MSM than it ever was as damnation of government (Johnson Admin) reporting as to the status of the Viet Nam "conflict".

Funny too that Kennedy gets us into Viet Nam, Johnson escalates the war, the Leftist MSM sours public opinion via falsified reporting, Nixon end it, and the MSM blames Nixon for the whole thing. Feh.

"I remember reading a piece a long time ago (I mean YEARS ago) wherein the author stated that Bernstein's father had it in for Nixon."

Bernstein's father was an open Communist who *HATED* Nixon for busting Alger Hiss.

Hiss was the Soviet spy "Ales" who accepted the Stalin Prize for doing the most to subvert the United States Government.

In encouraging her father to tell his own story, Mr. Felt's daughter, Joan, spoke of the money it might make to help pay tuition bills for her children.
