French voters have rejected the proposed EU constitution in Sunday's referendum, according to an exit poll. The poll quoted by French TV gives the "No" side 55% - in line with surveys published in the run-up to the vote.

That's the media spin but it's not true. There is a socialist MP on BBC right now saying "no, it's not because it's too liberal... it's because it gives nations no flexibility or independence".
Gosh, is that the Sun coming out? The birds chirping that I hear?
My, a nice day after all...
Hey, are there any NON parties in New York City tonight? :)
hurrah!!
And you should see Schoeder lately. Even the Green party is turning on him now!
Ah.... KARMA!
Wonder how the Euro will look on monday.
I hope so. That means the French PEOPLE haven't been completely assimilated into the EUroborg collective. Yet.
Il n'y a pas d'honte être français. Il y a seulement l'honte dans rester de français.
(There is no shame in being French. There is only shame in staying French.)

It is an open question now. But a free trade zone in Europe is a good thing. Perhaps now they can get it right.

French Defence Minister Michele Alliot-Marie described the French rejection as "a defeat for France and a defeat for Europe".
Oh well.
I was disappointed when Spain's electorate voted for the E.U. Constitution, but the French have redeemed Spain's folly.
Netherlands is Wednesday. You might be interested in Mark Steyn's observations: EU just won't take 'no' for an answer
Following Sunday's vote in France, on Wednesday Dutch voters get to express their opinion on the proposed ''European Constitution.'' Heartening to see democracy in action, notwithstanding the European elite's hysterical warnings that, without the constitution, the continent will be set back on the path to Auschwitz. I haven't seen the official ballot, but the choice seems to be: "Check Box A to support the new constitution; check Box B for genocide and conflagration."Alas, this tactic doesn't seem to have worked. So, a couple of days before the first referendum, Jean-Claude Juncker, the "president" of the European Union, let French and Dutch voters know how much he values their opinion:
"If at the end of the ratification process, we do not manage to solve the problems, the countries that would have said No, would have to ask themselves the question again," "President" Juncker told the Belgian newspaper Le Soir.
Got that? You have the right to vote, but only if you give the answer your rulers want you to give. But don't worry, if you don't, we'll treat you like a particularly backward nursery school and keep asking the question until you get the answer right. Even America's bossiest nanny-state Democrats don't usually express their contempt for the will of the people quite so crudely.
A twofer?
Chirac just spoke on TV. Basically said he doesn't care and will continue doing the same thing. Was basically stalling before the Dutch referendum I think.
I have mixed feelings about all this. A stronger Europe may be a good thing for America. Anti-American sentiment rose after the collapse of the Soviet Union because we were the only superpower left that everyone could hate.
Guys...calm down. This hasn't be verified by Jimmy Carter yet.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!! LOL !!!!! Okay now to celebrate :)
I hope that they stick to the pompous posturing, it just further exposes them.
FOFLOL! Statements don't come much more redundant than that. Don'tcha just love it when they get on the tube and try to custom define the definition of "is"?
