May 28, 2005 McCain Urging Accord on Bolton and Secret Documents By DOUGLAS JEHL and CARL HULSE WASHINGTON, May 27 - One of John R. Bolton's leading Republican backers, Senator John McCain of Arizona, signaled his support on Friday for a compromise in which the White House might allow Senate leaders access to highly classified documents in return for a final vote early next month on Mr. Bolton's nomination as United Nations ambassador. The conciliatory signal from Mr. McCain came as Senate leaders traded blame over who was responsible for the miscalculation that led to Mr. Bolton's nomination being blocked Thursday. But the White House showed

Bryon York was on Hardball on Thursday

He said his sources tell him the names on the documents/memo are of Covert Agents

Hmmm .. I do recall the Dems have a Hissy Fit about names of covert names being released

I suppose it's a different story when they want them huh?

And what is this all about with THUNE? The man I and others sent $$$ to for his campaign last year to oust Daschle?

***A second was a sign on Wednesday from another Republican, John Thune of South Dakota, that he, too, might oppose Mr. Bolton. ***

It's been reported that he did it out of protest of the Military base closing in his State

I really do not understand all the fretting about Bolton. Seems to me that the only qualification a conservative would care about in our UN Ambassador is that he wants us to withdraw as soon as possible and get their sorry headquarters out of our country. Short of that, they could nominate Snow White for all I care. US out of the UN now. The only conservative position.

Perfectly stated.

If this is true and he has no other reason to vote against Bolton, he is less than an honorable man in my book. It becomes more and more difficult to find any honor in that "esteemed crowd".

It is the original title. And I, for one, don't have time to wade through 12 hours worth of articles. And it's not in the side bar. So I appreciate a duplicate once in a while. Thanks.

It looks like yor prediction on Bush giving the Senate Raw NSA intercepts is about to come to pass.

That is what is really going on here, Biden and company are trying to depants the administration. McCain is just a useful idiot, Bolton is just a pawn, Reid is just a puppet, Frist is just an empty suit. IMHO.

Obviously someone has leaked the documents to start with. I'd sure like to know the answer to your question, too.

Do you know where the documents are suppose to originate from? Are we talking Hillary or perhaps Gorelick? Did they occur in this administration? Darn...I have more questions than I thought.

***I really do not understand all the fretting about Bolton.***

With all due respect (and I mean that after reading your profile), the 'fretting' is because that the democrats are STILL fighting the elections of 1994, 2000, 2002 and 2004. They refuse to acknowledge that THEY lost. That the American people have rejected them and their "ideas" over and over, and over again. They're re-fighting all their losses. To them it's always 'election season'.

Ergo, it's not 'about' Bolton, like it wasn't about Condi and every other one of Dubya's nominees that have been trashed by these gutter snipes (which includes that phony baloney 9-11 commission), it's about Bush - period. The RATS are determined to thwart everything he wants done or tries to do. They're determined to deny him his well deserved legacy and turn him into a Clinton, i.e.; a failed president. Heck, this president has freed more people from tyranny than any other in history, especially their hero FDR who contrarily subjugated millions INTO tyranny, and it makes them apoplectic.

In many respects it's almost a replay of what then majority leader George J. Mitchell (D-ME) did to Bush 41 and "read my lips". Mitchell back stabbed him, basically pushed through the tax hike, but "41" got the blame. Dubya "ain't" gonna fall for the RATS tricks like dad.

" The conciliatory signal from Mr. McCain came as Senate leaders traded blame over who was responsible for the miscalculation that led to Mr. Bolton's nomination being blocked Thursday."

Just like campaign finance reform another of McC'aint's deals comes back to bite him (us). So now he is defending Bolton ay? A little 'guilty conscious' rant to perhaps mend his sorry little weasley DemRat filibuster compromise? Wrong again McCan't. You don't appease the 'Rats and expect honor from them. You may be a war hero but a leader you ain't. Go and join the DemRat's like the good little Judas that you are.

I don't know. But I think the general subject matter of those docs might be very telling. And I haven't seen or heard jack in the media about what that subject matter might be. Only that it's HIGHLY classified, in which case bloody Congress critters shouldn't be allowed anywhere near it. Especially since, last I knew, they didn't have to pass the same backround checks that other people do to see the same classified info.

Since McCain appears surprised at all this and Schummer has disappeared and SAID NOTHING, my best guess is that Hillary is helping McCain on his sled.....downhill.

I read somewhere that Snowe and Collins from Maine used the same excuse.

McCain is a senator? I thought he was just a regular guest on IMUSh. Kinda like Rodney Dangerfield was on Johnny Carson.
