US Intelligence officials have told President Bush news that has left him stunned:
Iran has completed all elements required for an atomic bomb.
The intelligence information asserted that North Korea this year transferred components to Iran to assemble a plutonium based nuclear warhead.
The components were believed to have originated in Pakistan.

...tell just one more time why you feel so sorry for the starving people of North Korea... There is a BIG difference between the North Korean GOVERNMENT and the North Korean PEOPLE suffering under that government. Do you hate all Iraqis because of Saddam? |
"I agreed with your entire post except for the above part. There is actually one scenario where a country that spent billions on making and acquiring a nuke, may give it to a rag tag bunch of terrorists."
And I agree with what you say. Of course Pakistan's doctor Kahn and his goons, are now exposed. I guess within the context of my statement, I should have made note of the exception to the rules. Obviouse to us all, North Korea could also fall under this same scenario. Perhaps I tend to give to much credit to these rouge nations in their ability to obtain any sense of responsiblity once obtaining such a terrible weapon system. Thanks for the insight I failed to bring forth.
You think in a very shallow fashion.
By helping the people, you help the government perpetuate their weapon programs. You help the government support their policies that hurt their people even more in the long run.
The only way to help bring about change in a foreign corrupt (and terrorist) government is to hurt the nation which in turn weakens that nation's grip over its people.
How shallow your thinking is!
I am suggesting that he suggested that, maybe he misspoke or I misunderstood.
Youve shown yourself better than I ever could. Thanks. Keep digging that hole... |
I'll have to go confirm this. We don't move fifteen aircraft that cost anywhere from hundreds of millions to a billion dollars EACH if we don't think they may be needed for imminent use.
While it could be a show of force, I'm going to assume that we generally don't move that many of them to a hot spot without very good reason.
My assumption from the F117 movements would be that this situation is escalating behind the scenes and is now likely very tense.
I'm amazed that I had to reach post #35 to read this. Any intellgence officials who actually know that Iran has all the elements for a nuclear weapon would never reveal that highly senstive intelligence to "Geostrategy Direct." This is the kind of BS that they sell over the internet which cannot be confirmed or denied by anyone who actually knows the truth. It's not worth the cost of electricity to put it on your computer screen.
ME:"A predator can only carry a relatively small payload, depending on attitude, wind speeds, total distance. Are you suggesting somehow we would drop fuel air bombs on some given target via. a UAV?
YOU: "I am suggesting that he suggested that, maybe he misspoke or I misunderstood."
Good enough. To darn much stuff to quickly absorb, and to repy to. Have a good holiday.
To Kim Jong Il:
"You have no chance to survive. Make your time"
Of course we do. We send aircraft carriers all over the world. That sends a "message" to the evil doers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, the weapons are there and ready. It's called deterrence, and like I said, it doesn't always work.
"Predator is probably too short legged for the job of finding "the goods", and depending on where they are, also for taking them out. However Global Hawk could to the looking, and the F-117, or B-2s the taking out. We have these marvelous "bunker buster" hard target penetrating laser, or GPS, guided bombs. (Not sure if B-2 can guide the LGBs)."
Just curious. Does the airforce actaully have a stock pile of either or MOAB I or MOAB II's at this point? And not having specs on just how deep this type of bomb could penetrate lets say 50 feet plus of a dense hard rock strata, then perhaps another 20 feet or more of re-inforced concrete, I cannot help but wonder if we really have anything that might be suitable to penetrate deep underground facilities that are designed to whistand conventional or nuclear bunker busters. Obviously fission or fusion devices don't dig deep holes into extremly thick hard rock layers. At least that is my understanding.
How ignorant can you get. Do you know anything about international affairs? If we wipe out Iran out we would be asking for an international crisis. There are millions of intellectuals in Iran that are trying to topple this regime. The Iranian people can solve their own problems. The first country Iran wants to attack is not the United States, but Israel. The single thing that unites the Islamic world is the destruction of Israel. The Iranian government is not stupid. If they were to attack anyone first, it would be Israel.
Tongue in cheek, dude.
"US Intelligence officials have told President Bush news that has left him stunned:"
If anyone, most of all a sitting US president, is stunned by this, we are in a great deal of trouble.
More seriously, when an article starts with a line like this it greatly harms its credibility.
1) Few (if any) Americans would die in an air strike against Iranian nuclear facilities. (No one is advocating an invasion/occupation).
2) Destroying Iran's nuclear capabilties isn't about protecting Israel, it's about protecting us. The Israelis are more than willing/capable of defending themselves against this (or any) any threat. ....as they did in 1981, destroying Saddam's nuke ambitions.
Those "intellectuals" better have more firepower than just their brain cells. They need the courage to act, as well.
The Iranian people can solve their own problems.
That remains to be seen.
The Iranian government is not stupid. If they were to attack anyone first, it would be Israel.
Attacking Israel would be the stupidest thing they could do. ....unless their objective is to commit suicide.
I think often we forget to think of it from the other side's perspective as well.
If my neighbours were countries like Pakistan and Iraq.. you better believe I would be trying to get my own atomic bomb.
