Was that place a dump, or what!?
You got that right, my memories are of the obstacle course which was neat, the Mississippi River, and there was that Navy girl that could do some pretty fun stuff with ice cubes.

Umm... I'd have to say that Pattaya Beach, Thailand was the zenith of my experience in the Navy.

(I, ah.. I helped Nuns hand out candy and fluffy toy bunnies to poor orphans there... Yeah, that's the ticket.)

I never ate at Nellis AFB chowhalls (oops, sorry, dining facilities), but had heard rumours. We had a contractor on site who killed a bunch when they washed out a tanker truck that had some chemical in it, the horses drank the runoff and a bunch died. They got fined a princely sum for that.

Come to think of it, we did have steak that night. Hmmmm...., A1 will make anything taste good I guess.

Cheers!

I did not serve but am proud of my father who served in railway transport during WW2. He and other diesel mechanics helped keep our supply trains running as we beat back the Germans in France and Europe. My father's unit had the honor of being attached to General George Patton's Third Army for a good part of it's existence.
