Only the Germans had the Panzer fist at that time. Had they attacked US in 1939, you'd be lying flat in a matter of three months ;)
And don't forget that Germans were using cavalry in 1939 too.

I stand corrected. The point is though that cavalry against tanks doesn't work too well.

Fortunately for the US the floating tank hadn't been invented yet.
