Yes, [honor killings are] part of their religion. What you stated earlier was that it was *created* in the Koran when it wasn't. The Koran borrowed it from the culture & made it part of the religion.
Logical then to conclude that Christianity would help slow the abhorrent practice of honor killings, by removing it from their religion, right?
I'd have to think so, but I don't know how strongly it is preached against by some of the versions of Christianity that are not uncommon to that area. Breaking through the paternalism that is the basis of the origins of the practice would be pretty tough to crack through. The culture will try to hold on to it, because being forced to give it up would be seen as an attack on the family structure that people have lived with for many, many generations.
