But they will get the vote. The other side of the math is 55 republicans + 7 democRAT mavericks = 62 votes for cloture. Expect to see cloture succeed on Owens / Brown / Pryor although the rest of the RATs will get ample opportunity to play to their base. Note well that the RAT mavericks don;t have to vote for confirmation, simply cloture. We will get these 3 judges confirmed, but that is all.

This name calling method of voting is so stupid. None of them are ever there and they all go up to the desk to tell the lady how they are voting anyway. They should switch to the House method where each person votes with an ATM card type entry system.

What if the rest of the Republicans banded together in support of the filibuster? Wouldn't that negate that "clause" and create a situation to trigger the contitutional option vote? It would. But it would be a totally unprincipled vote. Yea on cloture means the nominee desreves a vote.

I was hoping the ruling would be a simple majority to end debate.... THAT would have been fun!!!!Cloture has been put to a vote on numerous previous occasions and fallen due to needing more than a simple majority. This time the 7 dems agreed to invoke it, ending the filibuster on the three. At this specific tiime, they're ending the filibuster on Owen.
Hmmmmmm, all Senators present just vote affirmative, from both sides of the aisle. None voted nay.
Interesting.
BTW, Rush starting.
