FReepers be prepared for surprises today.

I never make fun of Tennessee anyway -- if it wasn't for your State voting against their own native son, Al Gore would have been President in 2001!
Er, Leapin' Linc Chaffee Dish voted aye. Dunno if it was a switched vote from "no".
I am back, did they say anything after the cloture vote to indicate what is going to happen this afternoon?
BTW, saw Chafee on Linda Vester's show---he told the audience to trust him, HE'S THE PROFESSIONAL, and the audience BOOED HIM!!!! LOL
Works for me
even if Chafee voted aye, he still needs a primary challenge. And I don't think any conservative should vote for him. He takes up a seat on key committes that would otherwise go to a conservative.
Sort of. The DEMs have decided to belay the battle, or change its appearance in order to save face.
Get the major legislation enacted this summer, and then return to the remaining 7 judges and we'll see the bad faith from the RATS.
I'd rather the long-standing nominations be handled sooner, but not rushed. It'll take some time for what happened on the Owen nomination to sink in.
I still think this "deal" is better for the GOP than the RATS, because the American people will not stand for a well-qualified Supreme Court nominee to be filibustered.
A SCOTUS nomination will be contentious. I am counting on it. I agree that this deal is better for the GOP on balance. The backroom deal is out in the open, and the GOP expresses commitment to get all nominees to an up or down vote.
Thank you too, for the very generous compliment.
So if McTraitor is not smart enough to see through Sheets, he's not smart enough to be President, in mu OPINION!
I think Rush stated it best today...I'm glad I caught this clip "If the republicans, who have the presidency and a majority in the Senate...cannot line the feederal courts with the judges they nominate (taking back 40+ years of liberal idealogy piece by piece) then they will never do it. What was the purpose for winning?"
Ken, if you can, please watch C-SPan right now and tell me your take on what all Arlen is saying.
Great work.
**My one consolation I have is that stunning defeat that I handed him a number of years ago. I still savor that victory and I hope it still stings him.**
Stunning defeat??? Please explain further. I share your regard of McCain. The only time I've ever voted for a Demo, was when I voted for one, as a protest vote against McCain.
I knew McCain had the race in the bag so there was no worry the Demo would get elected. I felt so good voting against the stinking RINO!! hehehehe
The agreement, if it stands, means Saad and Myers will not get a vote.
They are specifically excluded from the non-filibuster agreement.
The Dems will filibuster them and it will not violate the agreement. Therefore it will not trigger the "nuclear" option ... and if it does, the RINO seven will vote against the nuclear option.
If we get our judges without nuking the filibuster I'm still OK with that. It's all about the judges!!!
What has he said? Watching now!
Dear Lord, spare me from professional politicians!
Then the party just brings in the big guns to protect the RINO (e.g., Bush campaigning for Arlen Specter in his primary).
Chaffee voted yes. The report otherwise was incorrect.
While Frist can call in a nuke strike, those 7 RINOs are now obligated to vote against it through 2006, especially if Pryor's and Brown's nominations also get cloture. That, plus 44 DemonRATs and 1 "independent" that votes with the DemonRATs, makes it a hollow threat (or kabuki theater, if you will).
