how can McCair usurp Frists authority and claim to make a deal with the Democrats that none of the other Republican have agreed to or signed.

Seems like the Republican Caucus could punish him for that one. Take away his seat in the cloakroom, reassign his office space, do something ugly to him,

At one time, Scummee wrote a letter to the Prez saying "look, we think you should consult with us first". It was signed by several DEM senators.

GOP surrender monkeys go to war to fight for the president's
judicial nominees and to protect the Supreme Court.

* Didn't McInsane just get re-elected last fall? * Yes, he did. By approx 70-75%.

Nobody ran against him in the primary election. I did not vote for him either in the primary or the general. I absolutely loathe him. My one consolation I have is that stunning defeat that I handed him a number of years ago. I still savor that victory and I hope it still stings him.

May I jump in an ask if there has been anything from the Senate floor this morning that I've missed? (NOT the so called "deal" of course, already know about that mess!)

I'm internet deprived, any update will be greatly appreciated. Are there any glimmers of hope from Frist? Cheney? Anybody?

Many thanks in advance.

What's a phibbiluster?

That does roll right off the tongue. I hope Bush uses it when he sends the next batch of nominations to the Senate.

That's what Lindsay said last night -- that the 14 will check the names Bush submits... now how is Arlen going to like that?

Well .. I'm thinking Arlen won't like that one bit

Sure sounds like they took his Committee Chairmanship away from Specter

The 14 have a little side senate of their very own.

In their dreams. The chummy agreement will fade pretty quickly, I think.

None that I can name. RI is one of the most solidly democrat infestations in the nation.

Lincoln Chaffee won on his father's name. Remember Senator John Chaffee?

Chaffee is about as GOP as his voters permit. Same goes for the two women representing Maine: Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe.

I always TRY to view those three in the manner President Reagan opined... something like, "always prefer somebody who votes with me 70%, 80% of the time, over somebody who votes with me NONE of the time."

IMO, this cabal seeks to usurp the Judiciary Committe. The 14 have a little side senate of their very own.
Excellent segue, why not have a "shadow" nation? One that conforms to the Constitution and rejects what's not?
If it is the moral obligation of a citizen to reject an unjust law, then it must follow to stop those who would enforce that law.

The 14's statement also included that bit about the President needing to consult them about his nominees. Trying to do the executive's job is NOT their job. See Byrdbrain's little book.
