You know, that REALLY brings pleasant thoughts to my mind!!

I always wondered if a RINO with feathers could fly.

If we would have used the big stick we would have come off looking like bullies.

What a load of crap. Does a winning football team come off as bullies when it sacks the opposing quarterback and dislocates his shoulder?

Oh yes.. they may have won the super bowl but the public doesn't like them because they hit hard and tackle mean... RIGHT!!! There is just one thing the pubic loves.. A WINNER. There is just one thing the public hates... A LOSER!!!. Losing teams are always short of fans.

The Religious vote re-elected George Bush President. They voted for him to end abortion and prevent gay marriage. That game is lost. The religious right will respond by sitting on their hands in 2006 and 2008. Last night because of Bill Frist's incompetent leadership, Hillary Clinton was handed the presidency.

Republicans will not even talk about the nuclear option again The media will cast them as liars who broke their agreement with the Democrats and the American people if they even bring it up. NO RINOs and many regular Republicans avoid the risk of media backlash. They will not support the nuclear option. Bill Frist lied. He said he had the votes when he did not. NO Republican in the Senate with a brain will ever follow him again. People do not follow those that lie through their teeth while leading them into defeat.

What part of the game is totally lost don't you understand?

"Reid said the agreement sent President Bush, Vice President Cheney and what he called the "radical arm of the Republican base" the "undeniable" message that "abuse of power will not be tolerated."
Quote from CNN Web

Excuse me, but who exactly was abusing power? This is what the gang of 7 gave to us? This is the victory? This is why we should keep our powder dry?

Here is another thing to consider. Bill Nelson is up for reelection for his Florida Senate seat in 2006. He has moved to the right on many votes in anticipation of his reelection bid. He was in a real quandary over the judges and every vote would have forced Nelson to define himself to the Florida electorate. He will still face some tough votes but the stakes have been considerably lowered and he can safely vote for the 3 freed judges without facing the challenge of a party-line cloture vote. Nelson has now been airlifted out of that minefield by the RINOs. There was a lot more at stake than just the judges, which was the primary focus of the discussion. You could claim a tactical victory for freeing Owens, Brown, and Prior, but I think a larger strategic defeat is the price that will be paid.

Wendy Long of the Judicial Confirmation Network is on Laura Ingraham right now.

Wendy said NARAL recently put out a statement saying that any nominee who does NOT state how s/he would vote on the "right to choose" will be considered a nominee who triggers this extraordinary circumstance situation.

So there we have it.

There is no chance on the face of the planet earth that Hillary Clinton is going to be elected president of the U.S. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Another Dem? Maybe. But there might have been a chance of that anyway if Frist were the GOP nominee. I mean, throw this deal completely out of the equation. Can anyone here really, truly in his heart of hearts picture Bill Frist as president of the U.S. under any circumstances in this or any known solar system? IMHO, it is to laugh.

By taking the lead on what will most likely be a betrayal by the Dems, McCain has screwed whatever was left of his pooch Fido vis a vis the Republican primaries in 2008. Not that he stood much chance before, but he's moved himself even closer to Her Heinous on the "how much money do you need to stop him / her?" campaign contribution list.

What I don't understand is why can't any one of the Democrats that were NOT a party to this agreement simply say "I didn't sign that agreement, and I won't abide by it".

I give at least 80% odds that some DEMs, not necessarily the ones who signed onto the deal, will stall taking a vote on at least one of the 12.

They are going to try to reject all of them, either by 51 "nays" on the floor, or by filibuster.

The Democrats are obliged by the "deal" to do nothing.

The Republicans are obliged to give up everything.

I'm with you. Gotta keep our eyes on the prize -- the next one or two SCOTUS appointments. Some of the short list nominees for SCOTUS have been inoculated.

Can't let "good be the enemy of the best". Democrats lost WAY MORE in this debacle than the GOP did. GOP actually lost nothing, other than immediate guaranteed votes on all 7 nominees. Doesn't mean some might not get votes later on, they're just not going to get them now.

This works, IMO.

This wasn't a clever maneuver on the part of the Pubs. It was a cleaver maneuver on the part of the Dems whereby they have permanently cut off the testicles of the GOP (Gonadless Old Pansies).

Orrin Hatch on Tony Snow's show hates the deal. Says it's not a good deal as all by 3 nominees are being thrown under the bus.

Those senators who depend on "red meat" conservatives for support will come out against this deal. Just read the rantings of folks here and you'll understand why.

Because the D's always stick together, and the R's don't.
