Dr. James Dobson Blasts Filibuster 'Betrayal'

"This Senate agreement represents a complete bailout and betrayal by a cabal of Republicans and a great victory for united Democrats. Only three of President Bushs nominees will be given the courtesy of an up-or-down vote, and it's business as usual for all the rest. The rules that blocked conservative nominees remain in effect, and nothing of significance has changed. Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Antonin Scalia, and Chief Justice William Rehnquist would never have served on the U. S. Supreme Court if this agreement had been in place during their confirmations. The unconstitutional filibuster survives in the arsenal of Senate liberals.
"We are grateful to Majority Leader Frist for courageously fighting to defend the vital principle of basic fairness. That principle has now gone down to defeat. We share the disappointment, outrage and sense of abandonment felt by millions of conservative Americans who helped put Republicans in power last November. I am certain that these voters will remember both Democrats and Republicans who betrayed their trust."

The one thing I cannot figure out is why Pryor was one of the three protected nominees? That pandering punk is the first one I would have dumped after the way he stabbed his "friend" Judge Roy Moore, as well as America herself, right in the back.Pryor upheld the law. Roy Moore got his ass handed to him by his fellow Supreme Court justices.

Much agree with you.
I don't expect it.
I think Bush has been told a thin line he must walk or be eliminated by the puppet masters. I suspect he's been told something akin to how many DIFFERENT fool proof ways they have of . . . removing him from the picture.

The ignorance of your comment would be hilarious, were it not so grossly offensive. Are conservative judges being beaten beyond recognition? Are their houses and churches being bombed? Are they being lynched? Which governor is standing on the steps of the capital not allowing the conservative judges to pass through, necessitating action by the national guard? Are cities rioting? Are they're spokespeople being assassinated? All these tactics were used by the right wing in attempts to impede desegregation.
What was it that Nixon called 'The Southern Strategy'? What party did he belong to? Why was it that after signing the Civil Rights Act, Johnson lamented "I'm afraid we just lost the south for a generation"? What party did he belong to? What historical evidence could you possibly site to justify your laughable whining?

Pryor cozied up with the ACLU and every other scumbag athiest in the country and zealously prosecuted the Moore case. So much for "freedom of expression" and the 1st Amendment. Pryor agrees with the ACLU on that stuff.

The Judicial nominees get an up or down vote, and Frist keeps the threat of the nuclear option... Saad and Myers do not get up or down votes.

Freeps,
This is my letter to Senator Hagel. He used to be my guy, now he's my reason to leave the party.
Senator Hagel,
I don't know that I can truly express how disappointed I am in you and the so-called Republicans in the Senate. The Judiciary has repeatedly made the will of the people as well as our elected officials irrelevant in the past 5 years. And now you and your accomplices have made a deal that will continue your position of MSM darling but has made the work of so many conservative voters irrelevant as well. Sir, early in your tenure in the Senate I was a strong supporter of your common sense policy views. It must be something in the water in DC that rots the soul.
I'm done. I am headed to the election commission office first thing in the morning to reregister as an Independent. I am asking that any information about my address or phone number be removed from any political action or campaign fund raising associated with you or the Republicans.
Sir I wish you and your family well in your personal life but I will aggressively fight your election or reelection to any additional office.
Sincerely

George Wallace and Lester Maddox.... are they the racist Democrat governors you are referring to? Or are you referring to all those Democrat senators, like Al Gore Sr., who voted against the Civil Rights act?

What's wrong with the Club for Growth?
Its chaired by Pat Toomey, they almost toppled Arlen Specter.
They're a great group, and I rather give my money to them than the RNC or the NRSC.

Out of the question. Recess appointments are worthless. The rats would trip all over themselves in laughter. Oh yeah? Well guess what...had Miguel Estrada been recess appointed in 2002, the U of Michigan affirmative action setback would never have been approved. Pryor himself has been on the bench for a year and has written rulings of importance. It is better to have a Conservative on a court than a vacancy. In Saad and Myers cases, it would sway ties into conservative majorities. They could serve until Bush left office, and we can use the time to build our Senate majority to 60 in 2006 and 2008.

I was just watching these slimeballs (BOTH Reps and Dems) on Nightline, patting each other on the back, smiling and preening before the cameras and it was nauseating! They talked about mutual 'Trust' and 'Respect' over and over but kept ignoring the fact that they are there to represent their constituent's interests and not submerge themselves in the collegiality of the Senate 'Club'.
Frankly, I'm disgusted and more so at these cave-in Republicans who don't appear to know how to wield power and seem to be unable to disturb the creases in their shirts by getting down to business. All the same irrespective of Party affiliation IMHO.
