Lester Maddox and George Wallace are indeed the right wing politicians I was refering to. The terms 'republican' and 'right wing' did not become synonymous until after Barry Goldwater's Presidential run and the completion of the civil rights movement. This transition was in its early stages in '63 when Wallace stood in front of the courthouse. He was an independent by '68.
Al Gore Sr. Civil Rights Record -
- Voted against the Poll Tax of 1942
- Voted for Civil Rights Act of 1957
- Nominated 2 young black students from Memphis for appointment to US Air
Force Academy - risky in Tennessee in 1957
- Voted for 1965 Voters Rights Act
- 1968 Fair Housing Act
- Al Gore Sr. apologized for his 1964 vote and called it a big mistake. He was concerned that it went to far to fast and would be used to cut off funding of schools who appeared to be in violation.
He wouldn't dare, not after Dingy Harry, warned him against reprisals today.
a. what's the difference between the two?
b. some of these people must have in their O3 (oath of office), "against all enemies, FOREIGN and DOMESTIC". Let's see it.
It's bizarro world when the minority gets to define to the majority that which is and is not extreme.
"Socialism as the Europeans understand it simply cannot be found in the actions of either American political party, for better or for worse."
That's a flat out lie, and everyone here knows it.
I'm thinking this agreement dies at the end of this Congress. (if it even lasts that long)
Per Sheets Byrd:
"The Constitution in article I, section 5, says that each House shall determine the rules of its proceedings. Now we are at the beginning of Congress. This Congress is not obliged to be bound by the dead hand of the past."
Why don't we just be done with it and declare the gang of 14 to be the USSA Politboro (13 would be a better number, though)? Instead of 45 Senators determining who will be seated on the Federal bench, it's now down to 14. I wonder how many of the 14 are controlled by Soros? McCain is definitely a sock-puppet - how many of the others are?
In the McCain-led press conference, did you see Byrd's trite recital of Franklin's quip, "a republic if you can keep it?" All I could do was grit my teeth. Byrd actually believes he's relevant, and millions of Democrats agree. It is interesting that they believe that this compromise "saves" the republic.
Yes there is. Look in the mirror.
And your time of the month is all month. Liberals like you hate folks like Dobson to begin with.
Yes you anti-American MSM count this guy in the confused and abused column in your poll.
Did I like the decision to compromise with the RATS, hell no.
Is this good for America, well we will just have to wait and see.
Getting damned close to that time.
Who is 'he.' Can't figure it out from the context.
Yep.
Regardless, Frist is a failure who can kiss any Presidential aspirations goodbye.
I think the Libertarians are going to get more of the vote next time around.
Like maybe 1%?
Why not work to get 60 rep senators. That's how politics works.
