When all the folk claiming 'victory,' irrespective of 'party' awaken to reality, the reality is that 'extraordinary circumstances' is a hurdle no minority party will ever clear.

Our founders understood the critical necessity for 'checks and balances' and the unrestricted use of 'filibuster' for 200 years has enabled the minority party to represent the will of those who elected it.

So, let's take a poll. Any of the below options work for you? Or, please suggest your version of an 'extraordinary circumstance.'

Peace.

Re: Sorry UL
Can't play your game.

We are the minority and we saved the filibuster. The glass is half full, not half empty or totally empty.

Consequences of this are as follows:

1) Frist is done. He can't even lead a majority. He didn't get his Up or Down vote as he promised, as he crusaded he would. Fristianity no more for 2008. He promised his base he can deliver this, and couldn't. Not only that, the American people want compromise. Instead, he told everyone how unhappy he was that there was bipartisan compromise. HORRIBLE political move.

2) The Moderate Republicans showed their strengths and that they were a force to be reckoned with. They didn't back the Weed's agenda. McCain and the rest of the moderates form a fifth column in the senate. Its like the moderates have had enough and want their own voting block.

This is a SOLID democrat victory. WE are the minority, yet we were able to save the filibuster, to use again. That extreme language is crap and you know it.

WE WON - be happy.

This is totally right. They went over his head and neutered him in the process. If we desire to have a strong ML, then we should all be mad about this deal.

He should walk around with this cap on:
