No, we had ALL. The ability to vote up or down is more important than caving.

When your car breaks down do you pay the mechanic for fixing it 85% of the way?

Ya, and after filibustering the Bush nominee, than they can use it as an issue in 2006, and say they need more Dems in congress, since Lindsay Graham now says that he was BF'ed, and (i) the filiburster was not an extraordinary circumstance, and (ii) the Dems say their deal was that they would not filibuster themselves, not that they would vote for cloture in non-extraordinary circumstances. Senator Warner says that the Dems interpretation on the second point is overtechical, and violates the spirit of the deal. The Dems say that Senator Warner should learn how to read, and borrow about 15 points of IQ from somebody. Senator McCain expresses pleasure that a right wing out the maintstream nominee has been defeated, and the GOP whiners should get over themselves.

You heard it hear first, just as you heard from me 2 weeks ago that their would be a deal among the "moderates" to take this nuke option off the table at the last minute. That was one prediction of which I was confident. By the way, there are probably a couple of Pubbies in favor of this deal who are closeted, maybe like Hagel and Voinovich. This if Graham backed out, they would back in.

I just read the link that has what I thought was the full deal and didn't see that language in there. Are you sure that's what they signed onto? If they did, it's even worse than I thought.

"...Wait for the real battles to happen when SCOTUS nominees come due."

I am waiting and unlike you, I have figured out that after they fillibuster the first couple of conservatives, then Bush will feel free to put another liberal on the court just as his father did. Remember Souter?

>>>This isn't Frist's fault. <<<

Like hell it isn't. Frist is Majority Leader of the Senate. He didn't lead! He lost control of his troops and McCain and 6 other RINO's engineered a surrender to the enemy.

Its as simple as that. You don't let a General off when he loses the respect of his troops and thereby battle!

One has to wonder if this was the game plan all along..

Frist and Dubya push for the judges, and the Constitutional option, all the while knowing that there was an "out" via the RINOS.

The fact that Frist couldn't keep all his guys on the team agreeing to the SAME strategy makes him TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE AS LEADER.

Ditto for that (can't say what I think right now, for fear I'll regret it later) Carl Rove, who for having all this alleged power apparently didn't exercise enough of it to keep people in line.

Ditto for Dubya. He's all talk, no action. One must wonder if he truly believes the BS that Rove feeds him to say.

But the king buffoon here is Frist. Frist MUST GO!! It is HIS fault that he allowed the game to drag on this long, and the RINOs to pull the football out from beneath Charlie Brown, ONCE AGAIN.

This will have MASSIVE reprucussions in '06. I for one am no longer voting - period. What's it matter? They don't represent us - they represent themselves.

Agreed. Not one damn dime goes to the senate fund to be used to support these Traitors. DeWine and the rest can kiss '06 goodbye.

You want to see someone who is politically clueless? GO LOOK INTO THE NEAREST MIRROR.

First of all, presidents don't behave the way you imagine.

Secondly, LBJ was THE best president arm twisted. Most other presidents have never had the Congressional control that he had; however, even LBJ couldn't keep everyone in line.

I grew up in the midst of politics, politics was as mother's milk to me. Unlike you, I actually know and understand this stuff.

McConnell on now saying we've marched back from the brink but that doesn't prevent future filibusters after the three are nominated. (Just what I thought). He and Frist would not have agreed to this deal however he commends Frist for pushing the dems to this point or we'd be filibustering ad infinitum. In his opinion, we've made progress. I don't see it as progress, simply one step forward and two back.

The analysis you linked to is weak. The nuclear option is OFF the table for the 109th Congress. The republican deal makers have sworn not to vote for it, period. The democrats have only agreed not to fillibuster unless the circumstances are extrodinary. Guess who gets to decide extraordinary?

The Republicans have been rolled, your analyst should look for a new line of work and Bush SCOTUS nominees can look forward to fillibustering democrats with 7 RINO dwarfs supporting that fillibuster.

It can't freaking get any worse.

Yes....and not all will get the up and down vote...

It was interesting...I heard Hewitt talking to Sen. Kyl around 7 ET...and Kyl was hinting strongly that a deal was imminent...

You have one thing right...massive reprucussions in '06 as the GOP goes down in flames due to the base NOT VOTING!

He's explaining right now that he is waffling on how he feels about this "deal" until he reads the whole think. He thinks the Pubs got hornswoggled, though

I just replied to an email I get regularly from the RNC:

NOT ONE MORE DAMN DIME FROM ME UNTIL YOU SPINELESS REPUBLICANS STOP SNATCHING DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY!!!! If the National Republican Party does not recruit primary candiates to run against these 'moderate' RINOS who sold us down the river on the judicial nominees, even if those nominees are defeated, you will have a very hard time raising any money from your base. You have the majority, you need to ACT LIKE the majority.
