I don't expect them to. I want to start by getting ten judges confirmed and if we can do that without risking the downside I think that makes sense. If they go back on it we can always try to change the rules at that time.

I agree. Frist can still pull the trigger anytime he wants. What Rino is in this picture of idiots? McCain, Snowe, Warner, Dewine and the other liberal chic, whatzirname. That's 5? All this seems to do is wiggle the Dems so they can save face.
This is one of the biggest dog and pony shows I have ever seen.
All the traitor RINOS lined up like ducks. They shall be weeded out in the primary process.

This is an attempted end run around Frist. McCain is a lying horses butt. Like he'll be president. And they think WE are stupid.

This is simply a battle of wits between unarmed opponents.

"mutual desire to protect the rights of the minority."

Castrated RINOs, the whole lot of them.

The GOP is the centrist party now....if the Dems hadn't moved so far left trying to embrace every freak, they would probably be in control.

For those of us still cube-bound, what is it we have actually lost? I'm following some comments on this thread that say we get Owens, Brown, and Pryor; that the Dems could take up another filibuster on later nominees, but that the GOP could push the nuke button. What have we lost?

In other words, this is no big deal at all. It simply kicks the nuclear option can further down the road. Right?

Wrong. 14 senators have just usurped the authority of the executive, the senate and Congress. Assholes.

McCain hopes to run for President

If he gets it and Hillary runs against him, I will vote for Hillary. At least she will stab you in the heart and not in the back.

It has EVERYTHING to do with Frist! He's the MAJORITY LEADER !

McQueeg has now deposed him, in a coup de tat, holding hands with SHEETS BYRD.

So nothing's changed. Or, rather, we get Owen, Brown, and Pryor, and then the Dems will take up the filibuster again, charging "extradinary circumstances," with the hope that because they let three through, they'll regain the PR advantage and this time make the filibuster stick. That's how I'm reading it.

I think you are absolutely right. The dems traded three nominees for a potentially more favorable PR climate in a future fight. If Frist is a smart tactician, he'll keep moving the others through quickly so as not to give the dems an opportunity to make up their usual fiction about what has just happened.

"no forfeiture of our rights to change the rules when the democrats act up again"

So long as that's true I might not be quite as disgusted.... but then it just postpones the real battle to another day, for the Demagogic Party defines "extraordinary circumstances" as any judicial nominee who they see as a threat to their castle of judicial fabulism and anti-constitutional inventions....

but why would you go for a raving leftist, will have a raving leftist for Veep, and who will appoint raving leftists to everything?

Because Hillary would unite the republicans against her. McCain would split the party down the middle and get his trash pushed through. That's why McCain would be worse.

Because they are telling us to TRUST the Dems.

So we votes up or down on 3 then the other two come to a vote and the Dims filibuster....you vote for the nuke option then, what is lost????

It all depends on the the definition of "extraordinary bojections " as in "extreme - extremist" -- which is code for pro life.
