Trusting Democrats to do anything for the good of this nation, is an amazing premise.

Not my premise. But onyx was nice enough to imply that it was mine without even pinging me.

Here is my prediction:

We'll get only the three up or down votes on Owen, Brown and Pryor.

Owen and Pryor will be confirmed. Brown will not because the Dems will convince 6 of the RINO's that went with this deal that there are "extraordinary circumstances" that make them concerned she's not a good jurist due to her public statements.

Then Justice Reinquist will step down and the Dems will fight like there is no tomorrow to take down Scalia or Thomas to be Chief Justice forcing a moderate to be nominated by Bush (he won't fight) that is white and liberal simply because the Dems will NEVER allow a minority conservative to be in SCOTUS.

Thus we'll end up with another Souter or O'Conner. The bottom line is the Dems will fight to the death to maintain a 5-4 or 6-3 wimp vote in SCOTUS and with cover from these RINO's they'll acheive their ability to maintain control over the court and block or change any legislation they don't like regardless of the legislative votes by the people.

Frankly, it's that simple, that easy to see and that important. If we don't get hold of the courts and get judges that interpret strict constitutionalism then all the legislavtive victories mean nothing.

Not really...that isn't how the compromise is worded and even if it were, what makes you sure that there could now be enough votes for it?

You don't understand...the spineless seven will make another "deal".

What deal? It is either Constitutional or not.

Rules of the Senate

Rule XX
1. A question of order may be raised at any stage of the proceedings, except when the Senate is voting or ascertaining the presence of a quorum, and, unless submitted to the Senate, shall be decided by the Presiding Officer without debate, subject to an appeal to the Senate. When an appeal is taken, any subsequent question of order which may arise before the decision of such appeal shall be decided by the Presiding Officer without debate; and every appeal therefrom shall be decided at once, and without debate; and any appeal may be laid on the table without prejudice to the pending proposition, and thereupon shall be held as affirming the decision of the Presiding Officer.

2. The Presiding Officer may submit any question of order for the decision of the Senate.

If you had been paying close attention to this whole saga, Frist didn't have that much support for the nuke option to begin with, he'd risk blowing it for the entire Republican party by pushing that button prematurely. Nonetheless, he would have been blamed by those like you, looking to outlet your anger on someone, somewhere at sometime.

Geez, she's been a Republican before you were even born. She doesn't suffer fools. You and econ figure it out.

I'm voting Libertarian. It doesn't seem to matter if the Republicans win since the Democrats still run things. For years, I've been thinking, "I'd vote for the Libertarian if I thought they could win, and I wasn't stealing a vote from the lesser of the Democrat/Republican evils."

Not anymore.

Saad and Myers are toast.

And Pickering is still IFFY; he's a white male, after all.

The ONLY thing "we" got from the "compromise", is an up or down vote. We did NOT get a guarantee that they will be passed.

Uh, the "deal" they just made violates same rules.

They've now turned the consent of the full body into the consent of 14. Nes pas?

It is obnoxious beyond belief. Only a complete liberal responds with such vitriol and condescension. How can anyone be so classless?

This way they can claim a false victory.

You've got it.

Hold on there cowboy...just last week during the debates it was CW by all that the had the 51 votes. Now, I can conceive he was duped by some.

But to say he never had the votes would be misleading IMO.

If there is no difference then lets go with the one that offers the most profit. We have a chance to win them all with the constitutional option. Heck the filibuster has never been used for anything good, why keep it around anyway?

Okay, you want to go with the one with the most profit. I want to go with the one with the most profit. So does 48 R senators.

The problem is that there are 55 senators who don't. It is that coalition that is the the majority. They've got the MSM support, they apparently can get elected -- they've got the power.

We don't. It's reality time.

So instead we get, what seven judges.

Frist says it himself the others will get their votes except possibly two. But I predict they will also get their votes.

Frist had the votes before McLame went behind his back andx peeled off a few RINOS.

The Dems ALWAYS stick tohether, but prior to this coup de tat, LIEberman was on board with the GOPers, to vote for the nuclear option.

Unless First suddenly growns a spine, not a one of the gang of 7, will feel any repercussions from Frist.
