Announce Filibuster Compromise
I don't care if those other 86 were sleeping on cots or the Sleep Number bed they picked up at Sleep Train.
Only 7 Democrats agreed not to filibuster, and only if extraordinary circumstances in their opinion do not exist
Frist has 48 votes. Which Democrats do you think are going to vote to change the Senate rules when the next filibuster occurs ?
Your scenario is that of a 3rd grader....maybe.And repeasting it, will NEVER makwe it so! You have the knowledge and undesrstanging of politics, of a blade of grass; at most.
Yuck. I hope you feel better.
Again, my apologies. Now I have to go feed the wife! lol
Agreed.
Depends what state you are in. If you are in a state with one of these Traitors I would vote. I'd even add hagel's name to the list since we know he would have been one of them if not for an '06 election.
I want vengance.
It's clear the 14 run the Senate. It's clear we don't have a majority, enither do the Democrats. Only an unelected 14 cabal. I want every single one of them to pay.
As to the rest, I don't blame Frist and the Republicans ready to do this...but the 14 just sapped any care I once had. Maybe I'll recover, maybe I won't, but right now I no longer give a damn.
And that is exactly what I think this "Moderate" agreement says. We'll stop using the filibuster and go back to the previous 214 year tradition and you won't change the Rules to formalize the tradition.
The result is the same as if we had formalized the Rules change to make the tradition crystal-clear. We still will not see filibusters of judicial nominees going forward except maybe a very rare case. If the moderate Democrats go right back to stonewalling judicial nominees using filbusters, these seven Democrats will be the ones who breached the agreement first.
This is not a big deal. I have predicted for months that the Democrats would allow votes if they thought they would lose the "nuke" vote. They were hoping to fight another day. Now the Moderate Dems have said that they will only filibuster in "extraordinary" circumstances. Everyone knows that every judge can't be extraordinary. They thought they would lose and they backed down. The RINOS may have given them a couple of small sweeteners (we'll see) but the continuous filibustering is now over...
It makes me grumpy too but I am relishing telling the PAC that is always calling me for money that I won't give. I have been telling CU that lately, that when they fire Churchhill I will give them money. At least I am saving money.
I think McCain is not long for this world. He has had a couple of recurrences of melanoma and that does not bode well for him.
Either way, liberals win.
Therefore, I cannot afford the time and the effort.
Don't forget republicans also lost the "mandate" tonight....oh wait, that was just fiction to begin with wasn't it?
/serious rectal clench required
No money needed. Frist will pull the trigger when that happens.
McCain is a traitor.
Not only has he lost my vote in any future endeavor, but he has also earned my active enmity.
I will contribute to his defeat. I will work for his defeat. He has been a blight on this party for too long.
I don't agree. But, even if I did agree that we won a battle in the short term, we have done irreprairable damage in the long term.
Regardless of what happens in the short term, the Dims believe they have won. They believe that pubs will blink (true), and they will act accordingly. Repeat after me....Perception is reality.
Again, even if you are right, which I dispute, so what? You can only screw the party base so many times. The real loss here is the damage to the party [faithful]. Which I believe will be appreciable.
How about another analogy? I (senate pub) come home every night to find a crook (senate Dim) banging my wife in the living room. I demand that he stop or I will engage him in fisticuffs. He responds, that will upset the children, they shouldn't see fighting. It ruins the decorum of the living room. We repeat this exchange several times and then I say OK, let's compromise. The Dim agrees to quit after another 20 minutes and then leave. He "promises" to not come back and do it again *unless* he gets too hor*y and just has to have it. Yeah, I won that exchange. I intimidated him
I am truly sorry to sound pessimistic. But I have been voting for conservative principles since 1970. I simply no longer have the heart to take abuse from ersatz pubs in the senate. Draw a line in the sand? Yeah, crap. Like that will ever happen. This ain't Pop Warner, it's the NFL. You gotta wear cleats, not tu tu's.
"It's clear the 14 run the Senate"
Don't you just LOVE "minority rights"?
I DO!!!!
From your lips to God's ears however the 86 seem to be in a collective coma and it will be McCain's puss we'll see 24/7 for the next fews weeks. Minutes after the presser he appeared on CNN and MSNBC with Matthews fawning over his every word.
How are you handling this? LOL.
Is Lindsay the only Southerner involved, and please don;t count Warner Southern.
