Those 7 dunces just pledged to NOT vote for the "nuclear" option and to allow the Democrats to fillibuster nominees they (the Dems) find extreme. That is the BIG DEAL. Exactly. Those seven traitorous bastards have totally undercut President Bush and Senator Frist - and the other Republican stalwarts. What a sad bunch of pissants. read the damned agreement at:

Thanks for posting this for all the conservatives here on FR who are trying to convince themselves the Republicans, who do control the Senate at least in mathematical terms, won tonight. They are delusional of course. The winners were Harry Reid and the extremist left like People for the American way. Thanks McLame, thanks to the rest of the RINOs for screwing us.

Laz is just fine. I heard through a "reliable source" that someone sent Laz 2 cases of Ripple earlier. He'll be here and give us his well reasoned comments as soon as he
regains consciousness logs on.

The test will be to see if Frist brings these three up tomorrow for the up or down vote, and then brings the fourth up Wednesday. The stall will thereby purchase a total of 2 days, if Frist plays it correctly. Yeah, he sure was master of the clock up until this point. I am sure it will take up most of the 109th for him to bring up 4-5 judges + Bolton. Face it we have a moron and a neutered one for Leader.
He can't lead a majority party.
To: Owen
If the Dems filibuster the next judge outside the agreement, the RINOs are given cover in their next election as having themselves been betrayed. In other words, this can be a huge victory in not just numbers but PR too, but Frist has to play it right.
Yep!
To: Fledermaus
I accept that. I think I have a case of strep throat today, and I'm not at my best, either. I feel like I have I have glass shards in my throat and I'm not in a good mood tonight.
Probably not the best time to be posting...

Those other 86 better wake up and smell the coffee in the morning.

The votes have to be held. That's the only way to give effect to the agreement.
The agreement is only politically binding too. Can't be enforced in court ;-) Court? The "court" isn't going to touch this cluster with a 10,000 foot pole.
Guess we'll see (tomorrow?), eventually...

Why don't you wait to make a judgement until the first filibuster happens on a Bush nominee? Three anathemas to the civilized world have just been accepted by the Demoncrats.

Andrew, the dems control the MSM. He who frames the debate wins the debate. The same democrat senators who railed against judicial fillibusters in the past supported fillibusters during Bush's term. Not 10 % of people in America know that.
I'll tell you what. I'll bet you a dollar there will be no cloture vote passed on Bushs SCOTUS nominee in this Congress. Are we on?
To: Skip1
Ha!.. tough choice... but what is the point of having people like this anyway?

Statement of People For the American Way President Ralph G. Neas on Senate Compromise Rejecting Nuclear Option The explicit language of the agreement reached tonight by a group of senators rejects the nuclear option, preserves the filibuster and ensures that both political parties will have a say in who is appointed to our highest courts. The agreement embodies the very principle of consultation and consensus that the filibuster encourages. No more words are needed. A Republican majority is not needed since both parties are now EQUAL.

Well put Laz, we conservatives got screwed yet again by McLame and the rest of the sell-out RINOs. And my suspicion is that Frist also got off the hook...or so he thinks. I wouldn't vote for that spineless wimp or any other Republican running for the Senate.
To: CHARLITE
I must say, I am getting sick and tired of Mr. Johnny "on the spot" McCain negotiating away the will of the majorityThat's worth repeating!!!
To: pepperhead
And if Frist did this that would give the democrats the majority.
They already have it; and, until we acknowledge it, we will never have a chance at a real Republican Majority. At least if we act now we still have enough time to position people for 06.
