We'll see if you think the same way if and when you have teenage daughters of your own. Dad is *responsible* for protecting them, it's his job as Dad.
I have two of my own, but one is now primarily her husbands' responsibility, the other will be in less than a month.
Way over generalization. Some are sorority girls. Many are neither frat boys or sorority girls. Like my daughter and her husband for example. It's even less true in the criminal defense practice than of lawyers in general.

How many witnesses are going to be truthful about the situation. ZERO! Everyone will be lying (him included) and he will be all alone. He is toast. This is going to cost him 10s of thousands of dollars. He should have got his daughters and got out of there. Unless you are Hulk Hogan you aren't going to buffalo several dozen drunk frat boys. They are in their element and it has been my observation over the years they will fight when they out number you at least 4 to 1. Here it was probably 25 to 1 and that is what it will be in court.
That is the key point, and what makes his actions self defense. He had every right to pick up his daughters, the frat pack had no right to attempt to stop or intimidate him.

If they are underage, it's not there choice, and you, as the host, are responsible for not giving alcohol to minors. Furthermore, you may be responsible for the actions of a drunk that you give more alcohol too. AFAIK, that's the law in all 50 states.
Maybe the frat boys will think before they act next time. Funny, just how polite people can get when the thought of someone packing enters their minds (like it was always intended to be).
When surrounded by superior numbers of drunken and threatening males, the need has arisen.

Sounds like he tried to get his daughter and get out of there. That's when they surrounded him and wanted to fight, just as you indicate. If that is when the gun came out, and not before, then he was completely in the right. The prosecution will have to prove otherwise. But they will have numbers on their side. If however, as it sounds, this "fraternity" is a well known rogue, and the father's record is clean or better, the judge or jury might just believe his account over theirs.
It seems that some of our forefathers were less than creative when they named towns. I drove a taxi in Newport News, Virginia (one of the few unique names around here). It's like they think no one has thought through all the implications before, and that if all they do is keep their hands in their pockets (after setting out the booze) they are home free.
Another element of Sharia that's quite popular is to make an accusation and then claim that because that accusation has been made we are somehow estopped from pursuing other investigative matters. The Democrats do that a lot.
The all-time major bit of Sharia Law that's crept in is the argument that the victim is fully responsible for all that befalls him, particularly if she's a woman, simply because the victim was present on the scene! We are seeing people argue that no one in that fraternity could be guilty of anything because, after all, the victims walked in the door!@
When we toss out the Mullahs and send them back to the desert, we probably ought to start cleaning house in our own institutions as well.
We don't know exactly when he made the revelation. The story is unclear. I am sure it will be supplemented before this is all over.

That little gem stood out in your post as a shining beacon of truth. Absolutely. If they were a few years younger, there would be a seroius problem. However, like it or not, legally at least, there is a world of difference between 13 and 17, or even 15 and 17.
What is the law in NH? It varies state to state. And the other charges? Charges against the father? No comment on them?
A gun works a lot better then a pea shooter.
