Text Credit to Ken5050: DAY-1 THREAD
Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
He's reiterating the importance of voting for these judges up or down, but yesterday he seemed grim, today he seems relaxed. The "smile" was more of a smirky, I can't believe these Dummycrats are still fighting us on this type of smile!
Pretty much same - that the DEMs have, in the past, called for nominees to get an up or down vote, and that Owen is qualified. He says the Senate has a Constitutional duty, and must do what is right, what is fair.
He is calling on the Senators to exercize their right of debate, and while they may not agree on the nominee, they will agree on the right to vote.
Reid is negotiating for a slightly different time split ... no big deal.
OH this is rich, Reid is accusing US now for stopping the work in the Senate! How can the Democrats be so delusional?
DOes it sound to anyone else like Reid had valium for breakfast? He seems very slow and quiet.
They aren't. They are counting on the people falling for it. And a significant fraction of the people WILL fall for it.
Day 2
Give 'em enough rope
Right on all counts, cboldt.
THis is rich. Reid is making the argument that DEMs want all nominees to come out of committee too!
Please keep me up to date.
I really hate to do this---but I have to mention something I heard on the radio news a few minutes ago-
It said that this morning some of the members of the Foreign Relations Committee came out with a statement that they will probably be able to deny the nomination of Bolton because they feel that he lied under oath that first day when he said that he didn't try to get anyone fired---
They say they have proof that he did back in 2003--so he (in this statement) will be denied---
Anyone else hear about this?
yeah , He sounds like the RAD RATS have pushed him out there to yap the ol' S**T
They are counting on the people falling for it. And a significant fraction of the people WILL fall for it.
I have more faith in the American people than that! The people have put the Republicans in charge!
Hey ,mornin' Howlin' , Scot Johnson/powerline was quite good on CSPAN
My question is, how many votes were there on the vote to make the two thirds rule change rule.
Oh, I don't mean that a majority of people will be convinced that the GOP "shut down the government." Just that a significant fraction (maybe 30%) believe what the media says or insinuates.
Thanks for the ping
I also wanted to bring over your post from last night

C. Borden Grey just pointed out that IF the fillibuster option really WAS available and had been used before the Dems would have used it on Clarence Thomas! It wasn't and they knew it -- so that's why they had to produce Anita Hill and trash Thomas that way.
Excellent!

None of the Media I trust has any such thing! we'll have to keep checking, Who were you listening to? Probably more propoganda!
Reid just said AGAIN that all of these have had votes on the Senate floor----WHEN?
Now he is bad mouthing Bush for saying that these nominees deserve votes---he said the President doesn't understand.
