The Dems have painted themselves in a real corner. They never thought the GOP would call their bluff, and now they have no way out. Their base would cruicify them. THis is a kamikaze mission for Reid, and BTW, affter the 2006 election, when the GOP gains again in both houses..look for Reid and Pelosi to get tossed overboard by their caucuses..Also, when the 7 finally do get an up-or-down vote...many will get 60+ in favor..

Hillary made the mistake! and I don't think she can take it in 2008.....and she is slowly losing her base (no matter what Dem registration says). NY could care less if she hadn't stayed through her term. Bad Plan?? Or no man would agree to VP????

I see this a different way. This is an opportunity for the Democrat party to finally realize that they have been taken ove by the hard left in this country and do something about it.
Leftist money did not win them the Whitehouse or anything for that matter. Now is the time to tell moderate Dems that everything they ever worked for to make America great is about to be flushed down the toilet and for guilt purposes tell them that they are the ones to change it.
Will it happen? Nahhh...
