I don't think Specter is on our side........He doesn't want the change.
Isn't his vote still up in the air?
I know I have read "cooling saucer of the Senate" at the American Memory site at the Library of Congress but I don't remember what it was in response to. I'm almost positive that it is "out of context", i.e., simply not applicable to the present situation.
The media only covered Reid.....the SOB's.
Oh, dang, here goes Reid trying to run the Senate again, and Frist LET HIM---
THIS is not good---Frist should have just told Reid that he will just have to manage his people around time restraints, instead of making Specter shorten HIS time!!!
I just knew the damn dems would get away with this penny-ante crap to make the Reps look wrong...
Uh, oh---Specter is saying that BOTH sides are saying wrong things,,, scratch what I said above, Frist needs to get Specter off the floor NOW!
Any mention of Scottish Law yet by Snarlin' Arlen?
Yes, let's hear from Mrs. Cheney. She isn't afraid of any of these liberal twits and will call it just exactly like it is, and take names in the process.
Reid Lies, Judges Die
Nah, Spectre wants to be seen above it all so he'll claim both are at fault in order to look "fair". My bet is that he votes with us.
Translation: "They are not Nazis! We want Nazis, socialists, anything but Americans, dammit!!!"
I think that last needed a little fine tuning... oh well...
Dingy Harry... out of context? NAH!
I think Specter's on point. Pointing out delays in committee under Democratic rule in 1987...
He maust have had Bubba on his mind or he forgot his watch someplace.
It referred to the bill passing process. Seeing that the Senate was appointed by state legislatures instead of popular vote, it was to mean that they would be less responsible to political pressure than the House.
I'm glad someone else caught that. Leahy having to babysit Reid already, not a good sign for the democrats. Reid opens mouth & inserts foot everytime he veers off his notes.
It sounds like Spectre is trying to build a case as to how we reached this point by the actions of both sides over decades, and that now it must be corrected.
OK, Specter, we know you are better than everyone, because you are so damn impartial.
See my Post 511 for the historical background on the "coooling effect" analogy made by Washington.
Yep. People need to settle down.
Spectre seems to be making the case the Filibuster is a direct consequence of politics trumping Senate duty over years.
