And that is how the GOP should keep repeating this to the press. We talk about the candidates, Dems want to rather talk about the right to sabatage the ability to have a vote.
To sabotage democracy.

I cannot believe that vote is going to come next week, THE week we picked to take our first week long "whole family" vacation at the beach in years.

"And Frist let Specter have that chairmanship, even though a lot of the grassroots wanted him back-benched.
In return, they think up this slimy way to undermine the President and pull the rug out from under Frist and the majority. "

Well, considering how Sen. Frist "came" to his job I am not at all surprised at the treatment he now receives--or the president for that matter. The president didn't lift a finger to stay the injustice of Sen Lott losing his job. That was despicable too. Seems to be inherent in high politics.

ROFLMAO! That's just it -- we are FURIOUS!
I'm still mad about Estrada!
I'm still mad about Bolton's hearing getting out of control.
And that's just THIS month.

If the president is happy, I'm happy. W can't be too overwrought about Congressional inaction with all his traveling about re. SS. I've read where public opinion of Congress is at some pretty low marks now. Too early to say anything about the effects on 2006 elections, the next big political event.
To: SolomoninSouthDakota
Unbelievable. You are attempting to make the case this is an act of rebellion because of Trent's demotion? Silly us. We just assumed it was because they were cowards that wanted to have the media fawn over them.
This has nothing to do with Trent Lott. Absolutely nothing. Half of these senators owe their elections to this President. They certainly owe their elections to us and WE voted on this issue. There is no excuse for betrayal over this issue.
You don't like how Trent lost his job? Fine. Neither did I. Not to say I want him as majority Leader but the way he was demoted didn't sit well. That has nothing to do with this issue.
To: Txsleuth
BTW, how does that work, the Blackberry? Can you get the internet on that?

Well, look on the bright side---you can someday tell your grandchildren that President Bush and the senate kept you from getting skin cancer in the summer of 05!!!! LOL
OR, you could get a really long cable and extension cord!
OR, you could get someone to videotape everthing and you could spend you first night home watching 40 hours of debate!
Or,....sigh....I ran out of stupid ideas!

" And let's face it, avoiding difficult decisions would truly be in line with the great traditions of the United States Senate."
THAT is the most pertinent and true opinion expressed here all day!
To: SolomoninSouthDakota
Well, the thing is that these SAME PEOPLE were the ones who wanted Lott out, so that won't wash. And Lott was in his position because HE pulled a fast one and got himself named majority leader before the new session started and before the new senators were sworn in.
Sorry, but I am pretty mad about this, because even if they have no loyalty to the President or the Majority Leader, they should still not try to undermine the rest of the Republican senators and ignore the wishes of the majority of the people who voted for them!
