Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
How about a gun in her hand? Good cartoon along those lines came out after 9/11.
It also means those Reps lose their careers in the senate.
Yep-thats the one!!
I remember all of the political backstabbing, bickering, infighting and compromise during the 'Freedom Towers' design phase... It'll be interesting to see what happens here.
Specter said that in principal he wants to preerve the right for the minority to filabuster a nomination..So the idea is to do a whip count on the actual votes for the nominees..There are 7..so if it turns out that three would be defeated, because they won't get any GOP votes in favor..they wioll be be allowed to be brought to the floor for a vote, then they will be defeated...This reallly sucks..Spector is backstabbing his own leadership..
That is what confused me--he was talking about a pre-vote vote to see how the REPS would vote because they already know how the dems will vote...
When Judy asked wasn't that an up or down vote, he said no, that is would be done before the vote, and that is when the room started spinning and I lost it...
Do you really understand all of that?
yeah , a nice Mossberg
Okay.....I had to leave at 2 to meet somebody; did I miss anything good? Are they finished for the day?
no only on a hour break.
How, when, who confirmed the dems closed it down?
Talk of "compromise" (we lose) is in the air again.
No, they are in recess.
Who is saying that, the media? Democrats spreading rumors?
How are we doing in the judicial filibuster debate? Are the Democrats screaming and yelling hoping to prevent the inevitable? Are our guys fighting back hard?
I almost want to give up. How can they compromise when we are winning? No compromise!!!!!
*bump*
FWIW, Nelson of Nebraska consistently votes to vote on the nominee. He sided with the GOP on 18 of 20 cloture votes on judicial nominees.
