Just Reported -- Frist and Reid broke off filibuster negotiations tonight -- Both said, "stick a fork in it, we're done" (or words to that effect).
Reid is quoted as saying that Frist wanted "all or nothing." Hmm -- sounds good to me!
Wednesday is D-Day. Better start loading up Fat Man and Little Boy! We're going thermonuclear!
LOL!!
Havin' fun over here...
Are you ready for the possibility of Hillary appointing "Quota Queen" Lani Guenier, or Larry Tribe to the Supreme Court in Summer of 2009? It's not impossible.
What if the Senate is split 50/50? They'll be no stop mechanism. I don't want the Federal government to become more efficient.
Pray for W and Our Troops
I made duck on Sunday and I bet that mine was better.
But, seriously, I think that Reid thought that Frist would fold ( heck, most, if not all of us did !) and when he didn't, old Harry went into shock. This is not, not,NOT how the damned Dems thought this would turn out and why should they have? Frist should have pulled this sooner! Now, let;'s get on with it and trample the obstructionist Dems. :-)
If he pulls this off, the guy has proven he has the ....you know...to take the job of the presidency! Leadership and ideals matter!
You have far too much faith in these spineless Republicans. They piss and moaned for years because they were the minority and have pissed and moaned the last 5 years because they are the majority. Frist is as spineless as Lott and don't have near the hair as Trent.
Superb!!! (wide grin)
Summer time in your neck of woods would be nice for them now wouldn't it?..... You all could rack up some more Democrat dollars....
I admit that the offer would be tempting due to the SCOTUS pledge. Heck, Frist has more of a spine than me on that one maybe.
I am hopeful and assume that the nuclear option would also end fillibusters on any judicial nominee.
The Hill report seems to say appeals court ones, but I think that is just the wording causing confusion. The other articles say going nuclear would end all judicial fillibusters.
If the Fairness Option is enacted, the ACLU or some independent(yeah right) liberal group might try to sue to get a judge to declare the Fairness Option unconstitutional. Thus putting the judges on hold until the next Presidential Election.
We have the votes...that's why Frist is proceeding.
That would be the dream solution and one he$$ of a payback to these liberal slime balls! Let's hope for two SCOTUS vacancies A.S.A.P!!
You can't declare Senate rules unconstitutional...
No prob, just link him to my personal site on FR, that way he'll know im "credible"
