Star Wars are the most overrated gaggle of movies ever made. There is almost nothing which makes sense or is of much interest in any of them. Only the first Star Trek movie can compete for the title of Dumbest Movies EVER.

And I like Science fiction movies. None of these come close to War of the Worlds or Forbidden Planet for starters.

Forbidden Planet really IS something isn't it? I've never seen anything quite like it. There's something about it that works in a creepy dream sort of way. I regard it more highly than the more talked about The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Forbidden Planet STILL rocks. My kids love it.

It is amazing to see it, reflect that it was made in '56 or '57, and think of the nearly two decades of really mostly-poor SF movies that followed it as if FP had never happened.

A really good remake, one that took the pacing, acting, plot seriously and mostly upgraded the effects and ramped up the development and suspense, could be a lot of fun.
