Well, since this is confession time...bless me Father for I have sinned.

I found myself tailing a bicycle where the rider decided that the paved shoulder wasn't good enough for him. I honked to pass and without looking back, he spat to his left side...and the honker landed on my windshield.

A mile up the road, coincidentally he stopped at the 7-11 where I was fueling.

He went inside the store and I let the air out of both of his tires.

It felt good.

I am super aware of motorcycles, I know a lot of folks that ride bikes, and I know how dangerous it can be for them.

I was riding with my dad a few years ago and I don't think he knows a Harley from a hairpiece, and he is generally an aggressive tailgate type driver. He was a few feet off the tail of a big bike with a couple of passengers on it, and I kept telling him I thought he was too close, that the bike didn't have a lot of protection, and he wouldn't be able to get out of the way if the guy dropped it, etc. He just ignored me.

Eventually the passenger turned around and gave him a full face finger. My dad turned to me surprised and said "Did you see that!"

Honestly, there are a lot of drivers that just don't understand the first things about motorcycles.

Me, I wouldn't drive one. Too many people get killed or busted up bad on those. A years or two ago I was driving up the Northway and saw a dumped bike with the driver under a sheet. The drivers buddy was sitting on the guardrail just stunned, a Sunday drive turned to death and families' lives changed forever.

No thanks.

You know, one of the reasons that many cyclists don't ride on the shoulder is that there's a lot of debris there that you wouldn't notice, riding in your car: glass, stones/pebbles, nails, trash, etc. I've gotten a number of flat tires from that kind of debris and/or almost wiped out. I'm not trying to inconvenience cars, and I do my best to move out of the way when possible.
