I asked my Dad about that right about the time I
fixed that pic up.

He said it's a "swagger stick".

We were living in Panama in the 50's when that pic
was taken. Apparently one of Dad's NCO buddies
got that Officer's gear and they dressed me up like
that just for grins, then took the pic.
