We spent the entire next day talking about the movie, the questions it answered, and the new questions it raised.

Same here. My wife isn't much of a fan and we don't see may action movies unless they have Bruce Willis in them. But she is talking about seeing this one a third time.

I finally saw it on Saturday, it was the third time for my hubby and oldest son, and second for my other 2 kids, and we took 2 other neighborhood boys with us.

I loved it. I was glad it was Ewan McGregor doing the lines at the end when he was yelling at Anakin. That part made me sad for ObiWan. But at least it was someone with some acting talent doing those lines.

"You were like my brother!!" Very tragic, like an opera. But the story was big enough to be able to overlook the horrendous acting.

I give it 2 thumbs up!!

8-)

Nice spin on trying to justify your remarks. Bottom line is the movie is making tons of money. I read somewhere that the movie took $120 million to make and another $100+million on marketing. So...it has already made money after only being out 2 weeks. So...the movie is highly successful. Nobody ever said it would be the biggest hit of all time...nice divert...you said it was going to "Tank."

Now...regardless of the nice spin (which would make a liberal proud...I might add) your prediction of "tank" has "tanked." This movie is already in the black. Much of the marketing has been undertaken by others...not Lucas. He is raking in the dough on this...it is not tanking...and it is breaking records. In the context of THIS thread...it does not matter if it is the number one movie of all time adjusted for inflation...what matters is that it is not tanking...poor choice of words indeed.

All I can say your simplistic version of business will not serve you well. Bothering with you will not serve me well.

I guess I am the only one who saw the outcome of the Obi Wan vs Annikan duel and thought of the classic Python moment, "It's only a flesh wound!" It completely undercut whatever pathos they were going for in that scene.

Yeah part of the New Jedi Order books where the Republic fights the Yuuzhan Vong, who mysteriously, although being of biological everything right down to there ships have no presence in the force at all.

At the end of the series the Yuuzhan essentially wiped out 3/4 of the Star Wars galxy, over 300 trillions sentients. But they ended up joining the Republic.

The magic just isn't there with the prequels. The storytelling is off, and they picked the wrong kids to play Anakin. I think it's pretty clear that Lucas captured lightning in a bottle the first time around.

You're absolutely right. The first three worked so well because Lucas combined the fun of the old-time Saturday afternoon serial with an undercurrent of mythology. He also had a good story with characters you cared about. The special effects made the movie unique and fun, but the movie would've been forgotten if it hadn't had all of the other elements.

The first three movies are soooo much better than the second three, although "Revenge of the Sith" was a good effort.
