Actually, number three implication is that Tim Russert KNEW where OBL was. You wouldn't surround it with more troops on just a hunch.

Truth is, Howard probably should have stepped down before the election. The problem is, with my limited knowledge, that Conservatives do not seem to have a replacement nor is the Tory message resonating with voters.

MTP with Mary and James should be entertaining.

Mary and James Ugh. They have been milking this routine for years. Bit tiresome. Carville got his candidate elected. Maitlan presided over the defeat of an incumbent President. She exemplifies the Peter principle, i.e., rises to the highest level of incompetency.

"I am pessimistic enough to think part of it is schtick. But I did enjoy the commercial they did together about how dims just talk about a problem, and pubbies DO something about it."

Pessimistic? Nooooo, realistic. They really have a good dog and pony show. What goes on in private -only they know. Hopefully they are honest with themselves and each other.

I think so, but my source for English vernacular may not be up on current slang. However, he's just moved back to Colchester so I'm hoping for a better future resource.

Brit on FNS: The worry about NK is not that they could shoot a nuclear missle at us - we can as Sec'y of State Rice said, deter that. According to Brit, the worry is that NK could and probably would sell a nuclear weapon to the likes of Osama Bin Laden.

It must be another example of American attention span problems. Then again, with Schumer on TV it tends to force real news off the screen. < /sarcasm >

That is a new tactic Senate Dems are threatening to use. Apparently, every committee must have at least one of the opposition party (OP) present to do business. If no OP member is present, the committee cannot vote; thus it cannot get nominees out of committee.

This is too sweet for words. My tagline completes the thought.

I take it then there is no time limit on the Committee hearing it just will simply run out of time.

The committee (Foreign Relations) is a standing committee which holds hearings on anything to do with foreign relations - ambassadors, treaties, legislation, etc.. The Chairman is always from the majority party and the majority party has more members on the committee, depending on the ratio in the Senate. Right now there are 10 Republicans and 8 DemocRATs on the committee.

The chairman calls the meetings and sets the agenda. So Lugar can just wait them out.

No mention of Russia, but plenty of talk about China. We've gotten very little help from China or Russia in thwarting North Korean nuclear development.

That's it for FNS. Oh yeah and Wallace's "Power Player of the Week" - but as I said, that's it for FNS. ;-)

Probably David Davis but I personally do not think he is strong enough I personally like Howard and hope he will stay on until after it is decided whether or not we will have an EU constitutional vote or not. My choice would be John Redwood but he would be seen to be too right wing and not the views that the Tories wish to portray nationally they would see those as definitely unelectable.

Apparently China thinks a nuclear armed Communist regime on its doorstep is better than no Communist regime at all.
