PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady arrived in the Netherlands, today, on the first leg of their four-day visit to eastern Europe, Russia and the Republic of Georgia. The main focus of the visit is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Nazi Germany's defeat.
According to the Associated Press, President Bush "second-guessed Franklin D. Roosevelt," when he said Saturday that the United States played a role in Europe's painful division after World War II. The President said it was a decision that helped cause "one of the greatest wrongs of history" when the Soviet Union imposed its harsh rule across Central and Eastern Europe.
President Bush said the lessons of the past will not be forgotten as the United States tries to spread freedom in the Middle East.
The President spent the day with the leaders of three Baltic republics, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Many in the Baltic countries are still bitter about the Soviet annexation of their countries and the harsh occupation that followed the war for nearly 50 years. Acknowledging that anger and frustration still linger, Bush said that "we have a great opportunity to move beyond the past." His message here, and throughout his trip, is that the world is entering a new phase of freedom and all countries should get on board.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: "We will not repeat the mistakes of other generations, appeasing or excusing tyranny, and sacrificing freedom in the vain pursuit of stability," the president said. "We have learned our lesson; no one's liberty is expendable. In the long run, our security and true stability depend on the freedom of others." President George W. Bush in a speech in Riga, Latvia.
Ooh, you have captions with a 'tude! Love it!
Interesting. Thanks for posting that little tidbit!
Yes, that is very fortunate for that little guy. Do they have a daughter as well? Hopefully she resembles daddy also.
Goodness that girl is just a mess isn't she? Her family has got to be completely mortified.
How are they going to spell oppressed? :-)
Thanks, I needed it, I was completely out of places to store the mounds of junk I collect :-)
You should check out the thread that is still going on.
I have put my two cents worth in. Some feel sorry for
her. I for one don't.
Do you have a link to that thread handy? If I venture out onto the rest of the forum to look for it, I'll get side tracked and never get off FR tonight!
If you don't have it handy, I'll just look for it tomorrow.
I don't feel sorry for the girl either.

About as close as I can get to where you can find it.
Thanks!
Prime Minister Tony Blair, second right, poses with his wife Cherie, centre, and their children Nicky left, Euan, Leo, front and Kathryn outside the prime minister's official residence 10 Downing Street, Friday May 6, 2005.
There are a few takes as to what hap pended here who is to say any of them are true. I think one thing that this election has taught me that given the same 2 sets of facts many interpretations can be made especially by different countries.
Here is some of the reasons given I feel that it is a little of all of these especially if you realise that the final tally was not that much different between the incumbent and Galloway in number of votes cast.
1) Large Muslim electorate
2) Incumbent MP Oona King staunch Blair supporter
3) Oona King seen as "new labour" not old working class labour
4) Large working class electorate with old labour ties
5) Oona King supported Iraq war and other WOT measures including recent controversial anti terrorism bill.
6) Oona King is a women (I discount this one)
Result: Bethnal Green & Bow
Oh, you're probably right, I just thought it looked like some fancy combination of wheat and white bread like that swirl bread they made years ago.
***How are they going to spell oppressed? :-)***
Hopefully, when they're not sleep starved. LOL You just had to comment, didn't you, you little dickens? Didn't you know that cats need a LOT of sleep? {^$^}
Thank you for these photos! I've never seen a Blair family picture before. They look like nice folks and Leo is a darling!
Happy Birthday, Snug's Dad!!! Hope it is a special one for you. :)
Thank you for your kind wishes.
I just figured you typed that AFTER the catnip! :-)
That's their daughter? Wow, when I saw the picture I thought maybe she was Cherie's sister or maybe a nanny or something.
She looks much older than she is then. Someone needs to get that girl some clothes that aren't so dowdy.
She could be cute, especially with that lovely hair, if she got some age appropriate clothes.
