Schiavos Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are (Schindlers Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are)

MIAMI - The family of a severely brain-damaged woman who died after her feeding tube was removed in March said Friday they still have not been told where her remains will be laid to rest.

Terri Schiavo's parents and siblings, who waged a lengthy court battle over her end-of-life wishes, said on Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" show that her husband is keeping her remains from them.

"They were supposed to tell us, and we still have not heard from ... Michael Schiavo where Terri's been laid," said Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler. "Our family expected this. Michael has disobeyed court orders throughout the ordeal and continues to do so today."

Michael Schiavo is under court order to notify the Schindlers of his plans for a memorial service. He has had his wife cremated and has said her ashes would be buried at a family plot in Pennsylvania.

George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, did not immediately return a call Friday night seeking comment.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died March 31 in a Pinellas Park hospice, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed by court order. She suffered brain damage in 1990 after a chemical imbalance caused her heart to stop.

She left no written instructions in the event she became disabled, and her husband said she never would have wanted to be kept alive in what court-appointed doctors called a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery.

The Schindlers, however, doubted she had any such end-of-life wishes. They maintained she would benefit from rehabilitation, despite most doctors saying her condition was irreversible

murder of innocent people

It happens all the time. Is God wrong then? But, you are entitled to your beliefs and I respect that. Religious and philosophical debates are for another time perhaps.

Even after her death Michael continues to take it out on Terri. What a sick individual, may he rot in hell for eternity.

Well - guess that prevents you being starved and dehydrated because it mentions "comfortable".

Of course, there are also now laws that allow circumventing a living will by doctors if they wish.

Be sure and check your local end-of-life laws at least once a year to be sure they have not sneaked in more reasons you can be "offed".

My point is, for all the sturm und drang, "talk-talk" is all anyone did here. Notwithstanding some few who may have gone and witnessed outside the hospice, no one did "whatever was necessary," even while disparaging and insulting those with whom they disagreed.

My observations on this sad FR saga refer equally to hot-heads on both sides, by the way. Just for the record I am on the side of life and wanted to see Terri live.

Sorry, but I remain a skeptic. Especially when it comes to the people I mentioned. I believe they detracted from any serious debate, not enhanced it. But, that is only my opinion.

"It happens all the time. Is God wrong then?"

God gave human beings free will. No doubt He expects there will be crime, but presumably He expects that people do their best to prevent it. Here, a crime was being committed for all the world to see. And in slow motion, when there was plenty of time to stop. Yet in the end, good men and women did nothing, or at least not nearly enough.

No argument here. I fear the Schiavo case may have proven conservatism to be a paper tiger.

So, Hildy, if someone was an alcoholic and eventually was killed by a wife ready to move on, tired of taking care of that old drunk, it is ok because that person was a drunk?

So, we have to be purely innocent in our whole lives before we are able to have people care when a husband kills us by starvation and dehydration?

Maybe we need the "facts" of our choices included in a "Living Will" so that there will be no abuse of "resources" in us continuing to breathe and in all the publicity surrounding our killing.

So it's ok to pay 70% of your income? Just be honest. This just isn't about Terri, I'm talking about if everyone stayed alive no matter what. That would be a huge financial burden on society. I'm being realistic.

"We are diverse as the conservative movement grows."

We are so "diverse" that the glue that used to make us Americans (let alone conservative) is gone.

"We are not a small thought coordinated group."

That's for sure. We don't even agree on the constitution that the country was founded on. Some of us think that anything we do "in private" and don't get caught for doing is fine. Wow! What diversity!

You never answered my qusetion on who will pay for all these bodies being kept alive.

And who diecides that they are "just bodies"? You? You think you can put a price on LIFE? Let me tell you this: As the grandmother of a mentally disabled child it makes me LIVID to hear people like you decide who is "valuable" and who isn't worth the cost. My little guy has more VALUE in his little finger than all the death mongers in this country put together!!!!!

... What has been scary is the discovery that there are many here that see nothing wrong with killing off American citizens based on their opinion as to the quality of that person's life. ...

In my opinion, its scary to discovery that there are many here that see nothing wrong with the rule of law, when there own interest is served. The sweet smell of emotion begins to reek of hypocrisy.

... Hard to find anything in common with those that are willing to kill for convenience, expediency, or "resources".

Another choice; a court ruled that her wishes were fulfilled.

Talking about Terri here ... her at home care costs would be minimal. My case is neither here nor there becasue I'm doing fine.

See, you have common sense and still retain the ability to understand the difference between right and wrong no matter how the laws have been "adjusted" to cover up the wrong.

And, I am as shocked as you that we are facing rabid discussions about the "rightness" of starving to death a non-dying woman because her "husband" might have heard her say she did not want to live in a disabled state.

Of course, when Terri might have said that - food and water were not considered life support medical treatment. So - she NEVER EVER SAID SHE WOULD WANT TO BE STARVED TO DEATH.

But, of course that is of no worth.

"Jeb's fault...."

Not his fault but lack of courage from Jeb to step in and exert his authority. He missed a golden opportunity to be a real hero and a true leader. What we have instead is an innocent woman murdered, unchecked judiciary, MS still taunting the poor Schindlers and many questions unanswered.

Justice may be delayed but it will be served. May God bless, comfort and reward the Schindler family.

The autopsy report? What autopsy report? The one that the next of kin had access to? The next of kin, piece-of-$%#@ Schiavo?

No doubt it's burned.

IIRC, the @#$% Schiavo was going to scatter Terri's ashes, not bury them, so Greer's court order couldn't be enforced.

So, you are on the committee that evaluates if we deserve to live or not?

I was wondering who "THEY" were. Maybe THEY are freepers.

You know what I call "selfish"? People that think they have the right to judge whether other non-dying people live or not. All they have to do is devalue that individuals life by saying things like "she died years ago", "she would not want to hurt her parents like that".

And, people that feel they should have that power over bedridden people NEVER need to be in positions of making laws or government because THEY WILL ABUSE THEIR POWER BASED ON THEIR BASIC VIEW OF THE VALUE OF LIFE OF OTHERS.
