Montgomery County [Md.} parents won't hand over their public schools to the sex theorists without a fight. This week, two parent groups sued over their schools' new and expansive sex-education curriculum. The controversial pilot program, slated to begin as early as next week, is one of the most reckless sex-ed curricula in the nation. This is no garden-variety lesson on the birds and bees. It crosses the line from instruction to advocacy and should be sent back to the drawing board. For one, the curriculum buys into theories that sex and gender are "constructed," not discovered at an early age. A child must develop an "internal sense of knowing whether he or she is male or female," it asserts. That means a child will cogitate over such issues as whether he is male or she is female. This sort of thing might fly in graduate seminars in Berkeley or Cambridge. But in a public-school curriculum, children deserve better.

will lesbian FISTING be in the syllabus?
My word, tough question. Ahem.
When my kids were born, the nurse would say either 'it's a boy' or 'it's a girl'. Apparently in Montgomery County, Md the nurses say 'let's just wait and see'.
Stupid, just stupid. But typical of this county.
I can remember attending school in Rockville, not much like this was taught to us. Things have really changed in the past 18 years.
Idiocy! One liberal tenet is of course, that gender roles are learned, but somehow homosexuals are homosexual from birth.
If GLSEN has its way, yes....
No -- but it will be in the spell checker.
Sheesh, I was hardly able to wrap my mind around feminist/gender theory as a graduate student. Now we're going to teach it to kids? I wonder if there's any way we could start introducing Foucault and Derrida into the elementary school curriculum? /sarcasm
The kid in "Kindergarten Cop" whose dad was a gynocologist was smarter than these folks: "Boys have a penis, and girls have a vagina."
I have a question for the lawyer types: If a boy is 17 and his girlfriend is 17 and they are having all of that safe sex they are being taught, and then the boy turns 18 his girlfriend is still 17, they have the same sex romps, then he can go to prison for having sex with a minor?
Part of the problem is that we have assigned so much stereotypical garbage to gender. A boy who likes reading, music, and cooking is a boy who likes reading, music, and cooking, not a "girl trapped in a boy's body." Same goes for girls who like sports, etc. The problem is that this little boy or girl will grow up being attacked on two fronts. Liberals will encourage them to "explore their sexual identity" and bigots will beat them up and call them fags and dykes. Unfortunately, I think a lot of children just start believing it after a while, and I think this can lead to adulthood homosexuality. It's not PC to say so, but I still think homosexuality is a psychosis.
Montgomery County has become the liberals testing ground , it's like a third world within our state .. .. ..
Silly you. Thinking that liberals have tenets that can't be in disagreement with one another. Liberal tenets are for their convenience and construction of their arguements. They're not for you to use against them.
This one precept, however, i.e., socializing sexual identification, should be dealt with cautiously. Dennis Prager has been highly concerned about the gender-confusion issue, and liberals treating boys the same as girls, and believes gender-ID is basically a learned facet of character. Which, if true, really does make the liberal war against boys all the more insidious.
that sex and gender are "constructed," not discovered at an early age. A DEMOCRAT must develop an "internal sense of knowing whether he or she is male or female,"
Pity my brother who lives in Germantown. Loneliness is the definition of conservatism in that county.
Hardly a day goes by we don't roll our eyes at the latest absurdity flowering there. It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.
I think there is only one group with both items on their agenda.
