The Vote is under way!
Oh no doubt the media here is just as left wing as yours - I would expect them to rally in support of Labour and the Lib Dems - but if there is light turnout, they're certainly not saying.

I would think that exit polls would be more accurate in the UK than the US.
All political polls always undercount conservative numbers.
This is true in almost every election in the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
It's an interesting phenom. that someone should write an academic paper on.
When will the polls close and how soon will we be able to project the next PM?
The polls close in 3 hours - we should have some idea in about 5 hours as to how the election will be shaping up.

Hi, snugs. It's 11:00am here in L.A., which should put it at about 7:00pm your time if I've done the math correctly. What's the latest news on your elections?
This is probably a stupid question, but the two of you and all the other British Freepers have voted, right?
Just kidding... ;-)
GO TORIES!!!
Well said started to think I was going to be the only one to mention Kennedy's drinking.
Regarding exit polls (and all other polls).
I think they are typicall skewed to the left.
I can't think of one instance where a conservative candidate underpreformed his or her polling numbers.
The opposite always happens. Conservative candidates in any country will typically overpreform their respective poll numbers.
Which means that IF Rush's statements regarding exit polling in the UK indicating the Tories doing better than expected ARE correct, then this probably means even greater Tory numbers in reality.
"Exit" polls themselves are not the issue, it is the fact that they always skew to the left.
I think it is a case of America importing rather than exporting if you think about it LOL
You made my day I am sitting at computer laughing at that last comment about Kennedy.
I picked up on this thread late. Are there reliable indications at this point that the Tories are going to bump off Labour?
Kennedy's health hasn't really been an issue - but as I understand it, he still smokes as well as drinks heavily. He is definitely one person who makes use of the Commons' subsidised bar.
Consuming copious quantities of single malt does explain the basis of the Lib Dem platform however. Well, all right, smoking mariujana in copious quantities perhaps is a better explanation.

You are getting bluer by day or the hour even
They are not the Brits I have known for the 45 years of my life.
I've always been a Tory - just I've not moved on from the Thatcherite variant of Toryism. ;)
Regards, Ivan
"So what's your opinion on the strong Tory showing in the exit polls??"
Has anyone actually seen these mythical exit polls? The only people who will be doing exit polls are BBC, ITN and Sky News and there's no way they'll release before the polls close. I've seen nothing on any British news source on this.
I always thought Kennedy was the perfect representative of his party's policies - flabby.
