Pat Robertson:No Muslim judges

Islamic leaders demand apology for 'hate-filled remarks'

Evangelist Pat Robertson is in trouble with U.S. Islamic organizations for saying Muslims should not serve in the president's Cabinet or as judges.

Pat Robertson

In an appearance on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" Sunday, Robertson, who ran for president in 1988, said if were elected he would not appoint Muslims to his Cabinet and that he was not in favor of Muslims serving as judges.

"They have said in the Quran there's a war against all the infidels," Robertson said. "Do you want somebody like that sitting as a judge? I wouldn't."

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations yesterday called on "mainstream political and religious leaders" to repudiate the "hate-filled remarks."

"This type of hate-filled rhetoric deserves repudiation from all who respect America's long-standing tradition of pluralism," said Rabiah Ahmed, CAIR's communication coordinator.

Ahmed said many Muslims already serve with distinction in many levels of government, including judgeships at the state and local level.

Arsalan Iftikhar, CAIR's national legal director, said Robertson "has taken his far-right-wing rhetoric to absurd levels."

"He is trying to perpetuate this notion that Islam is a monolithic entity inherently at odds with modernity and democracy," Iftikhar said. "That is absolutely false. ... American Muslims have long been contributing members of American society.

Iftikhar added: "And I guarantee to Mr. Robertson that Muslims will one day become part of the federal bench -- whether or not he likes it."

Muslims were particularly outraged by a 2002 appearance on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" program in which Robertson said about Islam's prophet, Muhammad: "This man was an absolute wild-eyed fanatic. He was a robber and a brigand. And to say that these terrorists distort Islam, they're carrying out Islam. ... I mean, this man (Muhammad) was a killer. And to think that this is a peaceful religion is fraudulent."

Robertson also called Islam "a monumental scam" and claimed the Quran "is strictly a theft of Jewish theology."

I may be mistaken, but I haven't heard of a concerted campaign among Lashkar e-Jihad or IMU jihadis to audit Kathleen Sullivan's law classes.

I mean, something tells me that Roe v. Wade, Doe v. Bolton, Texas v. Lawrence, and the raft of extra-constitutional, radical Supreme Court decisions to come down the pike over the past thirty-odd years don't exactly dovetail with the governing philosophy of Salafi extremists.

Methinks that Mr. Robertson is a little desperate for publicity again.

You may think I am ignorant of western history, but I am not the one that is looking at it though a modern protestant prism (more like a blinder). Are you aware that bible that you love so much and hold so much was put together and ratified by the very Church that you claim is at odds with it? Catholics have solid doctrinal reasons for practicing their faith the way they do (they have more books of the bible than protestants do that justify some of their practices). Maybe reading some noted Catholic apologists will deepen your understanding of the different doctrines within Christianity.

But ultimately I don't really care about this age-old works vs faith deal, I think your all nuts to one degree or another ;-)

Atheists should not be appointed as judges or given important cabinet positions either......People connected with ideologies that promote the mass murder of Western Christians or Americans cannot be given leadership positions of courts or in the government.

You're lumping Atheists in with Nazis?

They've done that themselves. Abortion holocaust and stem-cell slaughter. Do the math.

Quite an assumption you make there, that every atheist supports abortion and stem-cell research. You are quite good at generalizing.

So, what other Religions should be excluded in this country?

Should the Laws be changed so only Verfiable Christians, or repentant Conversos be allowed to be Judges?

I mean, from the tenor of your post, we can assume you believe that Atheists don't deserve the same rights as Christians, and from this thread, Muslims don't deserve them either.

Should we include Buddists, Hindus, Wiccans, and others in the Official Not Recognized list?

Hey, maybe we should quantify which Christian Sect is the correct one, while we're at it...

Already attempted several times on this board, check out the numerous posts erroneously stating Catholicism is not a Christian Church.

"They have said in the Quran there's a war against all the infidels," Robertson said. "Do you want somebody like that sitting as a judge? I wouldn't."

According to the believing Muslims one man is worth two women in the court.

I wonder, maybe Muslim judges would be more resistent to the feminist propaganda and less eager to side with women in divorce cases?

OK Charlie, that's nice, but it still doesn't answer my question, now does it?

So, I'll ask you the same question, which Religions should we exclude, or are you satisfied just excluding the Muslims, for now?

American Muslims have long been contributing members of American society.

And....contributing members to Al Queda, and their killers in Iraq who daily murder even their fellow Muslims.

Thanks for the ping. When Robertson would support pro abortion, pro-gay Giuliani for President he has jumped the shark.

This country is founded upon Judeo CHristian Beliefs, the Holy Bible. Electing Muslim judges places the basis of the (The Judeo Christian Beliefs) in jepordy, or opens amy open the door to a seperate Judicial System for some of our citizens. CAIR has already declared that they intend to make America "Muslim" and Sharia Law is to be implemented.

The divide and conquor strategy which has so far proven effective by the other attacking Groups of the SOcialist is
a perfect example of their MO. Once again let the Judges in, until there is an outcry by the Muslim Population for their laws to be used instead of the US Laws, because it would be against their Laws, Tradition and their Civil Rights Under the US Constitution to apply western/US Laws to the Muslims!

I cannot believe that I am having to explaining this to you, but I am very happy that you asked. I'm not sure how long you have been reading these articles on FR or elsewhere. The Flag has gone up many times here at FR as to the Questionable Limits of the Muslims and their loyality to the US Constitution - when asked to which they would protect and defend - the US Constitution or the Quran!

Christianity and Islam unfortunately are as oil and water. Christians are taught to live, love thy neighbor and honor God. While the religion of Islam perports to take over the world and to murder or enslave the infidel's or unbelievers.

So, Lord_Balter, are you of the Muslim religion or do you plan on turning your back on Christendom and God to turn to the Muslim religion??

Ah, but if we define it as it really is, namely a geopolitical movement, then it can be banned as was the Communist Party.

According to the constitution, the Turkish armed forces are charged with preserving democracy and secularism."

Yep, a Constitution that was voted in by a majority of Muslim voters.

And, just out of curiousity, what's the religious makeup of the Turkish Army's soldiers?

The fact is that you can't tell them apart from the ones who did, and you never know when one is going to strike. I don't trust them...not because of their race, color, nationality, but because their actions speak for themselves. I am not going to attempt to tell a good one from a bad one, much like I don't attempt to distinguish a poisonous snake from a non-poisonous one.

How about these guys?

Homicidal religious terrorists, the both of them.
